Yeah Exton Beverage had kegs of the stout and the barleywine for close to a month after the black Friday release.

Yes sir. The place I went to go it in before Black Friday last year and put it out right then. I think they were supposed to not sell it until Black Friday. (as I saw other shops selling it on Black Friday)

Any luck on black Friday I'd be able to find some bottles around York, Harrisburg, Lancaster? Be out there with family for the week. Seems most of the black Friday releases are close to Philly, huh?

Also, I'll put a listing in IP trades in the aforementioned area. Should be able to have some darkness, abrasive, standard surly, new glarus, central waters, others not in your distribution.

On black Friday? Probably not. Close thereafter? Definitely. It usually starts popping up about a week or so after it hits Philly but you never know, all depends on the distributors delivery schedule.

Very fortuitous that Thanksgiving is spent with the in-laws in Roxborough. So when they get up at 3:30 to go shopping, guess I'll head over to the Foodery. Is that too early? :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought some in Delaware last year, long after I was able to buy a little in PA

Gotcha - thanks for the info. I'm only in PA the week of Thanksgiving so will probably have to wait until its released at home (which is a bit of a cluster). If I do find any black Friday I'll post it up here!

A few places were selling regular, coffee, b-wine, and backyard on Black Friday last year in Philadelphia proper. It is possible, but with how much of a headache it can be to track down the variants, many people may be reluctant to share specific spots until they get their own.

My suggestion: find an event in the city and keep an eye on this forum and social media. Good luck and bring some Surly.

"people may be reluctant to share specific spots until they get their own." Typical. That's advocacy for you.

Last year I was able to get plenty ag Whole Foods Devon & Plymouth Meeting, the Wegman's in King of Prussia, The Beer Yard in Wayne, and Exton Beverage. Hopefully folks will be able to hit those places up and get some this year too.

Welcome to the site. It has be pointed out for years that there are more people lurking for information than offer information. I prefer to directly message people and offer info on where limited beers should be released. I have done this for dozens of people: a private message instead of telling everyone in the region. It's my preferred way of advocating. Being from south jersey, where plenty of people cross the bridges to buy beer, I'd rather help a local find beer than hunters and hoarders from afar.

That's cool. I advocate everyone being informed. So I just blurted it the fuck out. :stuck_out_tongue: The fact is...you could directly message people, and they could still be hunters and hoarders. Advocacy doesn't descriminate against people based on where they live or come from. The fact is, anyone that's willing to make a significant investment in time, gas, and effort for a chance to procure a beer shouldn't be looked down upon. But that's just my opinion. I'm not new to the site either. Just a heads up. Been reading for years.

I understand your point. A lot of my local stores don't get big deliveries like Whole foods. I prefer that their limited beers end up with locals who have built up their numbers it order to get the privilege of those beers. The hunters tend to not have supported those stores except for tough-to-find beers.

I only had your Join Date as a reference. No disrespect intended.

Oh yeah...I understand where you're coming from. But I know just as many places whose big spenders are the distance travelers as I do places whose primary business come from locals. Plenty of places around here make a living off the people who drive in from all over god's creation. We live in an area with great distribution and plenty of places to buy from. Usually if you miss in one place you get lucky in another. We get PLENTY of people here for our releases and events that live nowhere near here...but it's rare you don't get at least some of what you're looking for.

Advocacy is as follows for the city area:
The Foodery (both center city locations)
    Food N Friends
    Monde Market
All three of these shops will have BCBS and variants on Black Friday. If you are in the north east section of the city, The Craft Beer Outlet on Frankford and Morrell has the variants as well. All locations will have limited buys on the 22oz bombers. The Foodery, Food N Friends and the Craft Beer outlet will all have four packs of the smaller bottles for sale, no limit (atleast they did last year).
Good luck in getting it this year. I'll be out of the city towards the Poconos, land of no BCBS, for Thanksgiving week. I'm really hoping to land some Vanilla in trade.

Any info yet on the Philly events taking place on 11/26 and 11/28? I'd imagine 11/26 will be draft only. It'd be cool if we could at least get a confirmation of what bar they're taking place at

Also it appears Philly's Black Friday event disappeared from GI's website. What gives?

The address they had listed for Black Friday a few weeks ago was the address of the foodery in Roxborough. Not sure if they backed out of hosting or its just an error on the goose island site. I tried reaching out to the foodery the other day and haven't heard anything back yet.

I'll be seriously disappointed if they back out, I've been looking forward to this for months

Hey, I work for the Philadelphia Goose wholesaler. There will be release at all 4 of the fooderies on Black Friday morning. These releases will be staggered by an hour at each location early in the morning. TJS everyday will also have all 4 BCBS variants on draft the Saturday after. All of the details are not set yet. I will post again in here mid-week when we have everything ironed out. Just an FYI, the BCBS allocation for Philadelphia from last year has been reduced slightly. This is due to a few new markets opening and the new barrel warehouse not producing beer yet. I hope this helps.
