Unsealed, how long will a 64 oz growler of BCBS stay fresh?

I'm thinking sarcasm but if not I imagine he is putting the cap back on and wants to know how long it'll last once opened. I'd think that it could last a few days if you slowly drank it and resealed it.

Let me rephrase....I'm getting a growler that I do not plan on opening/drinking for 3 weeks or so...will it keep it flavor profile?

Should be just fine unless it was poured like shit. If they bottom poured with a tube you should be ok. If they counter filled with CO2 then it'll be good for months. If they poured from the tap then most would say it'll be no good but I had a growler poured from the tap that was left in the fridge for two weeks while I was on vacation and it was still good when I got back. I'd be careful with a bcbs since it's expensive but I bet you'll be ok.

Why did you originally say it was unsealed? I'm confused.. now you're saying it will be.... and you're defnitely not a Noob....or maybe you are...hmm

I got it, not purged. Growlers aren't sealed

Seems like if there is any beer that could last long in a growler, it is a big stout with a small amount of carbonation.

I wish this were true but there are many factors that go into how long a growler lasts. I recently had a growler of Peche Mortel that did not even last two days and I thought that it would hold up (granted it is not as much of a beast as bourbon county).

Key factors are always making sure the growler is sealed-I prefer swing tops because in my experience those are the ones that last. Also, the ratio of beer to gas is important as well as keeping it cold and out of light. Another odd one is to make sure there are no growler defects. I received a growler of imperial stout from Founders one time that had a mild chip near the cap that allowed for all the carbonation to leave.

I would drink it sooner than three weeks or maybe even wax the top if you want to be extra safe.

I've had HF growlers easily last 3 weeks with no loss of quality, I suspect if it's poured right it will last a month, but I'd wax it anyway just to be safe.

I’ve gotten 4 bcbs growlers filled in the NY area past 2 yrs...nobody has yet to do it well..and one counter pressure fill was a nightmare..lesson learned dont be afraid to speak up..still every sip was worth it...the flavors can even overcome improper handling

Personally, I stick to bottles. No problems there...

I'm guessing a growler of bcbs is some coin. Why not look into one of the CO2 growler saver-type products?

I've had properly poured, capped and stored last a year. Truth.

Wax is air permeable. Why wax it?

    How is wax not airtight?

Seal it with self-fusing rubber splicing tape – easy to use, gives an air-tight seal, and leaves no sticky residue. (Also highly recommended for beers being shipped!)
