According to the Chicago Tribune article last week, VA is supposed to get their allotment of BCBS starting this week. I've called around a few stores and haven't gotten anything approaching a definitive answer, so I figured I'd ask around here. Anyone know what the situation is?

Nope I've been asking and have heard the same stuff as you. Let's hope this or next week and on top of it let's hope we get more than we can handle!

I had read the same for Michigan.....but my local stores are all saying the Distro is telling them November. POOPOO

Let's hope. After the Parabola debacle (obviously completely different situation and unrelated, but still) I'm terribly pessimistic when it comes to big releases in this area.

If you guys hear anything, keep us posted. I'll do the same.

Yeahhh....If not then I guess I'll have to pull out the trade bait. Sigh.

Alright. I've gotten about 8 phone calls a day since Thursday. Here is the pertinent information.

The Chicago Tribune article came out on Thursday morning. That same morning, all the craft beer salesman for Guiffre (the distribution company that handles GI) had their weekly sales meeting. They were all made aware of the article and told that GI told their company that BCBS wouldn't be in our (VA) market until November.

So either the Chicago Tribune article is wrong (likely) or Guiffre was given bad information (possible). Regardless, BCBS will be in NoVA between this week and sometime in November ;-)

That should muddy things up sufficiently.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention when it was released. What was the nature of the issue with Parabola?

There really wasn't an issue in DC/ VA, but in Maryland it was a mess. I think most of the shops finally got Parabola last week.

Well the fact that DC/VA got like 12 cases total was a bit of an issue imo. Way under-distributed.

But at least we weren't like Mass, who got shut out completely.

Which is hilarious, because DC was FLOODED with Parabola last year. Schneiders got 5 cases, and that shady ass Dupont Circle store had it for like 6 months because they were charging $35 for it.

Ugh, you mean west Dupont? That place infuriates me. Great selection but extortionate prices

Which one is West Dupont? Is that the one over by Cafe Japone on P St?

    Edit:
1 West Dupont Circle Wines & Liquors... under where DJ Hut used to be...
(I just looked it up on Google street view)

    That's the one.

On the one hand good selection and friendly staff, on the other hand preposterous pricing even of stuff in fairly large distribution and a total mercenary attitude towards the hobby

I walked past that place once on the way to the Farmers' Market on a Sunday when they were closed.
I peeped a few of the prices through the window and they were out of control.

Final word on this. Talked with my rep, his boss, and the Goose Island rep in the area. They all say it'll be mid November. The Tribune article was very wrong. There you have it.

Gonna be a mad rush, no doubt.

I agree. Got the same story. Lets hope the distros don't let this one slip past.

Not sure I understand the issue. $16 for a bottle of KBS is completely fair. As is the $10 they were charging for a single bottle of Hopslam. And the $24.00 for Dogfish 120.

    Yeah, that place sucks.

I wanted to give them props for the positives in any case. I will never shop there because of the prices, but to be fair if you want to encourage gouging they have good salesmanship and have stuff people will pay gouged prices for

Yeah, but if you bought a whole 4 pack, they knocked the price down to $90!
