I went to the new 10 Barrel PDX pub to check it out & had 2 beers. Other than that, I haven't purchased anything from either since the buyouts. I should add, however, that I didn't buy much from either before the buyouts, so there's that. But if I ever see Black Currant Crush again, all bets are off.

Haven't had either one. Zero temptation to change that.

Haven't drank any. Including Goose Island.

Haven't had either and honestly haven't missed them a bit. Space Dust was good but overpriced, and Apocalypse was a staple for me but just so many other options. Sort of curious about the 10 Barrel in Portland but no plans to go.

I'm not in the boycotting camp but let's say I've been abstaining. I had that one Elysian beer when I went to that Thai restaurant a while back (then promptly balanced that out by walking over to Fremont); that's the last Elysian, 10 Barrel, or Goose Island beer I have had. There are so many other options that it's really not a big deal. I do like Space Dust and Superfuzz, but I can do without them if it means I'm not giving my money to The Man. Or whatever.

I've not bought an Elysian or a 10 Barrel and I have not visited any of the Elysian brewpubs and I don't plan to.

I think I had one Elysian beer that a friend had stocked at a BBQ. But that's been it. Haven't bought any and don't intend to.

I had an Elysian IPA a few weeks ago (I think it was Avatar but I'm not sure) at a place of few choices and I was modestly underwhelmed, which was often my reaction to Elysian beers before the sale.

I'm not really boycotting, more so just trying to avoid them. It hasn't really been hard for me as I never bought either of their beers that much before although I did think highly of 10 Barrel before the sale. I stepped in to the new 10 Barrel in Portland to see if they had anything interesting on tap and to check out the space. It was just ok.

I can't keep up with all the good beer from breweries I like... Makes it easy to avoid Elysian.
The saddest part is I really enjoyed going to their Cap Hill spot.

If the beer is good, I'll drink it. I really don't care about the politics.

This is my thinking in a nutshell.

If something like this were to occur to Boneyard or Barley Brown (perish the thought!!!), then I'd have a problem. However, it's been no effort at all avoiding 10 Barrel beers so far...

As a recent transplant to Beervana out here in PDX, I am sick of this poser boycott of beer. I grew up in Boston & watched Samuel Adams grow into a big business. There are reasons breweries need capital...they grow. To shame 10 Barrel for saving themselves from extinction is folly. I truly back good beer & if you could just drink this The Pearl IPA, you wouldn't care who funded it. While I confess my allegiance to Breakside, in particular, they STILL have no six-pack. No complaints from me, as I can fill my growler & pick up any bomber anytime there, but if people can't get your product, where are you going?

I've met the majority of the brewers @ 10 Barrel, they are great, & they'll get more of my business. I hated the acquistion, initially, but feed my brother & I'll back his play. Especially when his access to ingredients is expansive & the investment is made in the craft of those who brew it.

The only investment by ABInbev is toward their own. All others they want to squash That scene that you're praising was done without the aid of ABInbev. Where were they 25 years ago? As others have said, they use those new acquisitions like Elysian and 10 Barrel to undercut the competition. With their coffers and buying power they can afford to sell at a loss a lot longer than any of our local pioneers who built this scene.

Kind of amusing you'd admit you're new to the NW scene but register on BA just today and bash people who are protective of what we have.

Oh, and yes Sam Adams did grow. I don't remember them making any deals with the devil to do it.

I hardly know the specifics but is it accurate or complete nonsense to say 10 barrel saved themselves from extinction. They certainly seemed to be doing just fine

For what it's worth (not much) I support the OP in not supporting these two breweries. I'll never buy a product from them.

Noticed two events are returning this year post AB's purchases: 10 Barrel's Beer Wars and Elysian's Great Pumpkin Beer Festival. As both events rely on participation from boutique breweries for their notoriety, it will be interesting to compare brewery lists against past years to see if any significant changes occur.

I can't seem to work up the steam to boycott beers. Too many non-beer things I hate already, so don't get me started. I'd rather spend my time ignoring popular breweries that seem overpriced and over-hyped, e.g. Nebraska, Stillwater, Russian River, Alpine, Paradox, Crooked Stave, etc. [note: I am drinking a 10 Barrel Joe IPA at the moment.]

Been tempted ( because i did love 10 Barrel) but not a drop has passed my lips not a cent paid.
And even now in conversation with fellow beer drinkers at local brewpubs and taphouses..almost no one knows that 10 Barrel is Anhueser-Busch.
hey are shocked and disbelieve until i drag it up on the phone.
