I'll be in Bozeman for 1 night on mid October. Looking for a place with good local beer and good food. Is Montana Ale Works the first choice? Are there other places I should consider? Looking for local beer + good food, not just a brewery taproom. Thanks.
MAP Brewing is making some awesome beers. Stopped there back in July and really liked everything I had. They do serve food, which looked good, but I didn't order anything so can't vouch for it directly.
I haven't lived there for a few years but Ale Works and Bacchus were my joints. Copper whiskey bar and grill had a nice atmosphere but I never really spent any time there. It's in the basement next to a sushi bar I believe.
I grew up in the Bozeman area, lived there for 20 years. I agree with Vitacca on Ale Works, great food and a great local beer list. If you want the best steak dinner of your life, go to Sir Scott's Oasis in Manhattan! For good local beer, I recommend either Bridger Brewing or the Bozeman Brewing Company. Madison River is a great local brewery in Belgrade, which is only a short 8 miles away. There is only one real bottle shop in Bozeman and that is the Craft Beer Cellar. If you have any questions about Bozeman or the surrounding area, send me a DM, and I'll take care of you. By the way, watch out for the goofy brew laws of MT! You can only have 48 oz of beer at a brewery during a 24 hour period. So you can definitely hit up 2 maybe 3 breweries in a night.
