So I received a bomber of this beer as a gift from a non-BA friend. Its almost 8 months old at this point. Does anyone have any experience cellaring this beer? At 12% my only points of reference are Devil Dancer and Double Crooked Tree. I prefer DCT fresh but I like DD with a little time on it.

I don't have any experience directly with Bollocks being aged (have only had it twice and was fresh both times - very good fresh) but my experience with this beer and my experience with aging IPAs tells me this would stand up. It won't be an IPA anymore but more like a light barleywine. I've done this with multiple IPAs (I'm not a huge hop head) because everyone says not to. I need to learn for myself - the scientist in me. The most interesting IPA I've aged was Dogfish 75min by far. The maple they use at bottling comes out big time after a year. It's like maple candy on the nose with a big sweetness and little to no notable hop presence.

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm thinking I will probably open it. I've never had it and it isn't available in Wisconsin so I won't easily find a fresh bottle. Hopefully it isn't already in that awkward phase that beers like this seem to go through.

I'm sure it'd be easy enough to trade for a fresh one. This isn't generally too tough to find around here.

I think it was just under or right around one year.
