Just saw that tickets are on sale now for the Brass City Brew Fest in Waterbury. Has anyone been to this event in the past? Is it good? Tickets seem very reasonably priced at $30. What about the VIP tickets? I've done VIP for other events and not been very impressed. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

It's a well run event. Mostly regional brewers. You won't get any one-off type brews, but it's still worth the price of admission. I believe the VIP ticket gets you in an hour before the general public. I was a walk up and still had access to everything the VIP's did. You have to pay extra for the Belgian tent.

Is the Belgain tent covered by the VIP price, or is it just a flat separate charge regardless of whether or not you have a VIP pass?

In past years, it was not covered by the VIP price. So if you want VIP+Belgian tent, plan to drop an extra $20 total.

VIP passes get you in an hour earlier. Consider the fact that in previous years they started running out of beer earlier than they should have. Last year this didn't occur, but the 2010 fest still sits in the back of my head as nothing short of a total disaster.

Yeah 2010 was awful. They ran out because of people bring pint glasses and mugs and the volunteers giving them full pours. Although I'm sure that people still use as a way to get drunk, 2011 was much better because they would only fill sample cups. As said above, you're not really going to get any rare beers there but I still have fun.
