Anyone have information on when the Whetstone will be ready to open in Brattleboro. It looks like it may be a while, but like they say "when there is a will, there is a way" (and this couple seems to have a will).

You can follow their progress on Facebook. The renovations look great so far - I am looking forward to checking it out. Brattleboro took such a hit beer-wise with Irene last year.

Was McNeil's affected by the storm?

McNeills came out of Irene fine and has even gotten a recent needed makeover, the place looks great. The downstairs of Flat Street remains closed and I feel sorry for the owners, they are such nice guys and they must have pumped a ton of money into the basement.

Agreed--McNeill's looks great without losing any of its gritty charm. And the Flat Street situation is very sad. The basement bar was beautiful--one of my favorite bars in Vermont, really. The upstairs is nice, too, but I do miss the basement, and hope the owners are eventually able to and up for reopening it.
