Brau Brothers Bourbon Barrel Quad

This is a shelf turd around here. I know a store with about 8 bottles sitting there for $13.99/each. They also have Rye Wyne bottles for $11.99/each.

I've honestly never tried either...worth picking up?

 

Rye Wyne is great.

 

Agreed do the rye Wyne nick. Better than rye on rye and I love that beer

 

Rye Wyne: no bloody way. Rye is some of my favorite stuff dropped into beer (& rye barrels) so I picked up one of these & it was borderline sour. Having looked at the reviews I might have had a bad bottle, but I'd be wary of them after sitting on the shelves for all this time.

After numerous disappointments, I wouldn't spend top dollar on Brau beers again. And I want to like them.

 

Alright...gonna give Rye Wyne a whirl I guess.

Chad - do you know which store I'm talking about that it is sitting on shelves? I can get you a bottle too if you want?

Rye Wyne is one of the most underrated beers IMO. Maybe having lower expectations before having a beer is a better thing.

 

That "sourness" can come from high percentages of Rye in any beer. If you try any 40%-50% Rye malt beers, they will have a little "twang" to them. Westside Rye from Boulevard is an example of this, as well.

 

Just bought and drank a rye wyne ale last week and it was Devine

 

Rye wyne ale is there highest rated beer I think. I have tried it once and liked it enough to put one in the cellar.

 

Nope. You're talking to a certified rye fiend. What I tasted in Rye Wyne had nothing to do with an innocent (& lovely) rye 'twang' & everything to do with something that had gone wrong in the process/bottle.

 

I have seen it on the west side. Team Liquor in Shorewood, Harbor Liquor in Mound, and possibly US Liquor in Minnetonka. The usual museums.

 

Interested to see what you think of it.

 

I picked up two bottles of Rye Wyne, based off Chad's opinion. I know he and I like similar qualities in barrel aged beers.

Drank one bottle of 2011 Rye Wyne and it blew me away. Immediately ran out and grabbed two more bottles. Thanks for the suggestions all!

 

Wish I could find a few more bottles or Rye Wyne. I drank one at a share last weekend and have one bottle left in the cellar. Need more. That beer is amazing! I hope they brew it again!!

 

Rye Wyne was killer, thanks again. Difficult to drink alone though.
