Never heard that the Finch family sold out and wasn't in the business still. Anyone know who the majority owner is now? Chalk it up as another failed Chicago brewery, hope Finch's 2.0 can capitalize on the the new space. It amazes me that they were one of the newest Chicago brewers back in 2011 and that so many other local places since then popped up and surpassed them so quickly.

Here's the part of the article that explains that:

Finch's may have been around relatively early, but they never brewed much of anything worth drinking. Hopefully these new folks turn it around.

I agree with you, but do we know WHO these new folks that bought the company are and what experience they bring? Was this a case of an experienced beer industry insider seeing "malt art" potential or was it bought out by venture capitalists who sees a quick 5 year cash out opportunity?

Went here once around the time it opened. Place was mobbed and seemed more focused on being a hip sports bar than a brewery. The beer was mediocre and seemed watered down - like they missed their efficiency target or were just being cheap with a slim grain bill. My friend and I left after a beer or two, went to Revolution, and never looked back. Too much good beer in Chicago to bother with a place like that.

Well that was Finch's plan to begin with, so wouldn't be surprised if that's how it turns out.

One of the original investors bought out the Finch family.
