anyone know whats going on with this? Dinners, events, bottles.... Or money in the toilet? Its april. yes... They said first bottles mid april, but... No real communication to speak of. there is a charity raffle coming up as well, one would think that would be newsworthy... I'm disappointed. Compared to de garde... At almost half the price...
You should ask Ben for your money back. I would assume that would be OK since no bottles have been distributed yet. Unless you took advantage of the early access to and 15% discount on Elder Statesman (one of the barrel aged beers that cellar members will have perks on throughout the year). I definitely noticed that it seemed like a long time between signing up in December and the first stated release of "Late 2nd Quarter" which they stated at signup. I also noticed that the releases seem very "back loaded" towards the 4th Quarter (again, also stated at signup).
Hey folks- Sorry if there is any misunderstanding. The details of the club and when beers are to be released are all stated here on our website: http://www.breakside.com/beers/cellar-reserve/. The timing of this thread is great, because some of the details below are due to go out in an email to CR members this week. Sign up for the club opened over the Holidays so that people could give it as a Christmas/New Year's/Hanukkah/etc present if they wanted to; most of the beers for the club this year were brewed in Q3 or Q4 2013 or Q1 2014, so the earliest most of them are ready is Q2. Thus, the lag time between sign up and the first releases. The first exclusive bottles for Cellar Reserve members are due out just before our 4th Anniversary Party on May 17. Members get free admission to the event, which will feature 4 anniversary beers and 3-4 additional barrel-aged and wild beers that won't have been released beforehand. As in past years, there will also be a few special kegs rom our industry friends. Member swag will be given out then too. The private parties are still slated for July and December, as had originally been stated. The 15% discount on other barrel-aged beers that @DarrenStory mentioned still applies, and members will have early access to Bourbon Barrel-Aged Aztec before it is released next month. @crusian, what Charity Raffle are you referring to? Feel free to message us directly if you have any more questions. You can also email me directly at [email protected] Cheers, Ben and the rest of the Breakside team
Thanks for the info! Charity thing, was a flyer i saw in the brewery tasting room, hosted at the brewery...
No offense to Breakside, but it's my very humble opinion that these "society" clubs suck. Just brew good beer and sell it for gods sake.
From a business perspective you have to respect its genius, interest free loan and free marketing, ensuring a consumer base. For the consumer I can see many benefits, if the beer is good and the membership is priced fairly. Of course if you are not a member you may feel left out, but often that is simply your choice. There will always be more beer I am not a member, but I have confidence Breakside will come through.
So I picked up my Apollo & Dionysus bottles today and they are 22oz bottles. The original communication was that they would be 750ml bottles right? Now they did offer a free pour of A&D AND BBA Aztec which was a stand-up move on their part. I just thought 750ml would be a little cooler and share a little more nicely. I sent an email to Breakside about it about a week ago and didn't hear anything back, so I was just curious if anyone had heard anything about future releases. $20 750's just seems a little better than $20 bombers, especially on first time/unknown beers....
Didn't go to the anniversary party but I picked up the cellar reserve T-shirt and glass (actually a pretty nice glass) at the tap room.
Brewers were just hanging out doing nothing at Belmont Station this week for some stupid Randall thing, someone could have asked them then. Too bad this is such a disaster and the issues have never even really been addressed. Cellar Reserve website above is also down. Feels like to me they got too caught up with brewing and distributing regular beers and kind of neglected this whole thing.
