Other than BeerSmith, what other apps/programs do you use? I have Fermenticus Brew Log on the iPhone, it's pretty great, easy to use, gives you the mash/infusion water breakdown and such. Im addicted to tweaking my recipes on it! What about you?
I was using BeerSmith for about 4 years but now I switched over to @VikeMan's BrewCipher and it has been working really well.
The BrewCiper Spreadsheet put together by @VikeMan is as good or better than most of the comercial options. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/brewcipher.141602/
I use brew 365 for water calculations and brewers friend for an approximate OG/FG pre boil volume, beer style and nice recipe sheet for brewday
I use beersmith.com for recipe creation and a ton of other tools that have been nothing but awesome. I hit all the predicted OGs, color, and ABV that it predicts so I cant complain at all about it. Paid the 10.00 and got the premium membership which I will renew.. The vikeman spreadsheet works really well. I have used that several times as well and it is very accurate.
I've got BrewMate and BrewToad on here. First of all, I like them because they're free (yes, I prefer to spend money on ingredients and equipment) and Toad at least is pretty easy to use and get around in. It doesn't have the calculators some of the others do, to easily be able to brew to certain numbers, but it's pretty good about calculating numbers given input ingredients.
I use Beersmith on my PC and on my iPad Air on brewdays. Mr. Malty for yeast calculations, and EZ water for my water profiles.
I recently purchased iBrewMaster 2 for iPad and have used it for two batches so far. As far as usability goes, it's on the clunky side, but I've been able to add most of the ingredients I needed to add with the exception of a particular hop straing (Summer). You can sync your recipes to a Dropbox account for backup, have access to a bunch of Northern Brewer recipes, can specify custom colors for the UI (as of the last update). That said, it's not perfect and I can't help but feel I can put together recipes much easier in Beersmith on the PC (even with its clunky UI).
