Browsing thru a couple of stores i stumbled upon the Brew Dog's Tactical Nuclear Penguin, i live in an area where beers like this hardly ever permeate (dont ask), ill even dare to say that possibly i will never see this beer again around here, it sells for $200 (its not a typo), the question is... is it worth it? consider i will probably never find it again.

what kind of disposable income do you have?
(knee-jerk response? No. Absolutely not. The counterpoint? Think of it as the price of a ticket for admission. The beer, on virtue of what you are drinking is almost certainly not worth 200 dollars. Now, on the other hand, is the price of admission for having experienced TNP worth 200 dollars? Well, that's really the question. My reaction would still be no, however)

TNP is not a particularly good beer. It's better than Sink the Bismark but that's not saying much. It's value is pretty much entirely in the novelty. I bought one when they first came out a few years ago at like $80 with shipping from Brewdog. Like half the bottle is still sitting in my fridge with a cork in it. I'd save your money for something you'll actually enjoy.

I thought this was going to be a post about a nuke launch and how we should hide in our cellars and drink everything down there.

    Enjoy

Man 200 dollars sure does buy a lot of great beer. Sometimes I have a hard time spending over 100 dollars on a beer run. You could even order a sh*t ton of stouts from www.halftimebeverage.com and have it shipped to your door free if you spend half that. Really puts it in perspective.

Nope, I would agree with DrDemento but thats just me. I've had the opportunity to share a bottle (not out of my own broke-ass pocket, obvi), and while super complex, enjoyable, and interesting, I don't know if I could ever tell you that a $200 beer is worth it. That is, unless $200 is easily disposable for something like this, and then I would say go for it. If you have the ability, or would be willing to drop $200 dollars on a nice bottle of wine, then why not do it on a beer. Good for you, you worked hard for your money, and this beer was quite unique, so I would view it in the same light.

Also (see other posts) if Chocolate rain isn't worth 70 and 3F Oude Geuze Golden Blend isn't worth 25+ dollars why on earth would this beer be worth 200?

Disposable income or not maybe a kind BA could hook you up for half that cost and throw in some actual drinkable extra's...

For that money, you could probably find some utopias. That is almost worth it. Still probably not, but at least you could sit on it for a while and enjoy it from time to time.

I could probably afford it, but even I wouldn't buy it even for a tick.

Bourbon County Stout at $150 a case is worth way more than most other stouts/things/beers, including nukes. At least, to me.

200 for a Tactical Nuke? That doesn't seem cost effective. Can you get your hands on some of these: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/173/37094 instead?

Sorry if that's not helpful, I'm more of a Zerg guy myself.

Once you have a sip of it, you will be disappointed in at least some way. It was here for €50 and I passed every time. Now that I've had a sample at a tasting, there's no way I would spend a dime on it.

Nothing brewed by Brew Dog is worth any amount of money.

Tried this at brewdog in london when I was there. It is not worth 200. But you can buy it online from brewdog direct for 35 pounds plus shipping. Which is still way cheaper than $200 a bottle.

If you enjoy paying money for beer that is equal parts mediocre ashy crap and overpriced gimmicky nonsense, than you will love it.
