Not sure if everyone can see the comment on the picture, but James asked if Columbus needed a Brew Dog brewery. Have to say that I would be pretty excited, personally. It really sucked to lose out on Stone, but this wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. The ABV limit would definitely need to be raised for these guys!

Please, oh, please. Fresh Hardcore will be a staple in my fridge if they do.

I find it hard to believe they would open a brewery in Ohio with the ABV cap. It would make a great publicity stunt to shame your "pro business" politicians into actually changing the law to encourage business.

I'm also weary of that fact. But I do find it strange that they would post something like that while being aware of this. Greg Koch had mentioned pitching Columbus to the BrewDog folks due to the massive support that was rallied for the #Stone2CBus movement. I have to imagine that little tidbit was brought to light during those discussions.

Ohio law doesn't prohibit the production of beer over 12%....it prohibits the sale within the state. They could produce whatever and just send it elsewhere. My understanding is Boston Beer has been making Utopias in Cincy for a while.

I don't disagree that the abv cap needs lifted, but many people are taking a far too simplistic view of this. It's always about $$. Stone didn't settle in Columbus because of the incentive package they received from Richmond. And the site their building on. It was insane. Cbus couldn't compete with that.

Furthermore, how much of BrewDog's beer is over 12%? Growing breweries invest capital into making more core product and getting fresher core product to their consumers. The vast majority of their production is under 10%. THAT's what pays their bills.

Had you finished with the Forrest Gump quote "And that's all I have to say about that!", it would have been perfect! BrewDog is also nowhere near the size of Stone. I feel we have the more modest accommodations that they would be looking for and would not require an incentive package anywhere near what Richmond put together.

Also, to my knowledge, no other city was mentioned by BrewDog, so it doesn't immediately seem as if this is a "we are looking, so please put together your best offer" type of scenario that Stone was pitching. It would seem as if Columbus got a glowing review of Greg and he may have been able to share details of what we could offer that would likely fit their needs better than it could for Stone. That, in and of itself is pretty promising.

Sorry. My post wasn't very clear. My comments about Stone weren't to necessarily compare what it would take to "attract" BrewDog....it was more of a response to many assuming the abv cap had anything to do with Stone's decision.

I picked up on that and knew what you meant. I was just adding my own thoughts. That was my mistake for making it seem like they were all directly in response to you. We are on the same page!
