curious what people thought of the show.

i liked that they took a different approach using home brewers.

the cynical side of me wonders if marketing dollars had something to do with Golden Road getting to host them. would have been cool to see it at Beachwood or Smog City. also didn't entirely agree with their top beer bar list, but that's how lists are.

while the home brew competition thing was cool, it seemed like they wasted an opportunity to do something really "LA". enjoyable show nonetheless. recognized a few people in the background at the GR taping

I'm okay with their Top 5 Beer Bars, I'm more questioning their choices in the Top 5 Breweries (other than Smog City and BW, both of which I totally agree with).

Just out of curiosity, what bars (or breweries for that matter) would you switch out?

For those of us who did not see it, what were their top 5 bars and breweries?

I really have to wonder who had a hand in choosing the breweries

If you guys watched the SD version from last season (I think the only one that I've seen so far) it was a little weird too. On the other hand, there are a lot more option over there of course

They could of had El Segundo Brewing Co in there instead of San Pedro. Eagle Rock is okay I guess. Not sure about Ladyface. It's a decent place, but..... Maybe Monkish? Angel City? Not one of my favs. I guess none of the OC brewery's would of counted. But hell......at least they got it right with Smog and Beachwood.

Golden Road!! What a joke. I mean its alot better these days and the place is big and nicely laid out. But they could of had it a BWLB. I guess when you got the $$'s.

For as big as BWLB is over Seal, I really don't think they could have held it there. Golden Road has a lot of space to work with, which I'm sure is the major reason why they choose to work the L.A. episode there.

At least it's actually in LA. I'm sure the size and layout of the place played a part in choosing the location for the shoot.

As with every episode I've seen so far, it's just ok but better than any other show about beer so can't not watch.

i would think Blue Palms would be above any of the other on the list. i guess Naja's has a lot of taps but it's pretty cheesy. maybe it's because of conflict of interest since they were hosting it at Golden Road, but Mohawk Bend or Tony's are easy as good or better than any of those places. also, while i like Glendale Tap, i don't think they're #2 in LA

breweries: never been to Pedro Brewing actually. curious to check it out now. think they got the #1 and 2 right. Eagle Rock is probably a respect vote, since they were one of the first. but yeah, plenty of other places could fill in those last 3 spots. it's kind of a burn that Monkish was left out

I wouldn't have expected them to pick another brewery besides Golden Road. They have usually gone with a known regional brewer with a bit of mainstream notoriety more often than not, Ska, DFH, Tenaya Creek, Sam Adams, Oskar Blues.

Blue Palms is most certainly not top dog anymore. The consistency of the tap lists suffered greatly. In the past I'd agree with you and I still go often.

This was probably overstated on second thought. It's still one of the top destinations for me locally, probably #2 behind Surly
