Anyone else disappointed by this place? I went on the second night it was open and had a lot of great beers for 2 bucks and a wide variety were from $3-5. I was hooked.

Come this Saturday, I go again. There were only 2 beers for less than $5 and any good beer was almost $7+. They raised their prices a lot, to the point it saves you almost $2 a beer going to any of the other beer bars in Austin. I ended up at the Whip In after a beer...

Is this the place where they do the "stock ticker" thing? If so I was planning on hitting that up this weekend while I'm down there... Maybe not now.

Yes, when a beer gets asked for a lot, in high demand, the price goes up in 25 cent increments. That's the way they do it at the one in New York city anyway (I don't know if they are the same people). The price will go down when demand lessens. Interesting idea, not very customer friendly though.

I was very disappointed with this place. Ticker prices did not match what they rang up as and then it actually doubled in price the next time it came around on the ticker. Walked down to The Ginger Man and was much happier and treated far better.

Yeah, the theory is great. But when the minimums are as high as they are, you won't ever get a good deal at the Austin one.

This on is owned by Kung Fu, which I like.

But nothing justifies $6-7 locals. None were cheaper than that and the place was relatively empty. It also seemed most people were drinking mixed drinks the second time around, I'm guessing due to th prices...

Personally, I'd just like to know up front what I'm paying. Odds are, anything good is going to be high, so I'd prefer a set price. I'll stick with Draught House and Flying Saucer when I'm in Austin, or Home Field when hanging in the Round Rock 'hood.

Yeah I hit this place last night and learned that popularity will drive up prices for that beer, but prices for other beers in that style that aren't being bought will go down.
Either way base price is still a bit high, maybe if it's really crowded the gimmick may be fun, but I find that hard to imagine.
On another note, afterwards checked out Easy Tiger. Excellent beer selection, nice outdoor garden, and good food.
