I found a place in Utah called BioDeisel supply and they make and sell some awesome stainless mesh buckets for mashing.Much better than a cloth bag. But the problem is they want 80 bucks for a standard size for a 5 gallon brew kettle. Thats just too much. Has anyone here built their own mesh bucket for mashing right in the brew pot???? any pics or links...
Those are actually made by ArborFab in Michigan. I bought direct from them, and I paid something like $225-50 for a 15 gallon kettle. I'm weary of plastic, like nylon or polyester, in my food, so it was worth every penny to me. Make sure you're getting the cross supports on the bottom orr it won't be able to hold wet grain. Also I'd consider a handle a necessity myself. J-hooks are nice for draining the grain without some elaborate pulley system. I'd highly recommend it if you aren't looking for a great ROI. Then again, maybe it will pay for itself, as my first brew bag ripped a little after only one use.
I used ArborFab for a hop spider and keg dry hopper and couldn't be happier with their products and craftsmanship. I agree with others that $50 isn't much and I would actually expect it to cost more due to materials cost alone.
