My buddy from church basically remodelled the bulk of my bathroom when I moved into the house in May along with all new lighting throughout. Now he wants to weld me a single tier double burner(cooler MLT) because he is itching for a welding project before his wedding next month. Just brewed him 10.5 gallons of Leffe Brune for the reception. Hope to work out the specs on the stand this week with him.

Wow, what a collection. Some really nice rigs. Some nice and simple rigs. And some really sketchy rigs.

    Koopa,

I'm thinking about something similar to what you've got. Not sure I want, or need the 3 Blichmann kettles.. Do you like having a direct fire mash tun.. How well does it work for decoction mashes?

I can get a simple stand with casters welded like that for next to nothing... Couple hundred in pumps and cam lock fittings, and a plate chiller wouldn't be bad.. Would need to decide if the blingman would be worth it.

Looks good, if you've not begun building and would welcome some structural feedback I've got some small improvements that would help the load flow / structure.

I have yet to do a decoction mash, but yes I do like having three direct fired kettles. Definitely a good idea to make an insulated mash jacket though. Stainless doesn't retain heat very well. BTW while on the subject of MLT's, I must say that the Blichmann false bottom puts the f in fantastic. I actually got one for both my 15g MLT and my 20g BK. So sometimes I use the 20g kettle as my MLT which allows me to boil up a 10g batch of very high gravity wort in my 15g kettle, or even a 22g batch of low gravity wort split between my 2x15g kettles!

Look at stout kettles and tanks as well. Cheaper than the blichmann with the option to get what you need and avoid getting what you don't want (e.g. a sight glass).

I have More Beer kettles with welded in 1/2" couplers at different positions to allow for whirlpooling and recirculation (in addition to the normal thermowell and exit coupler outfitted with a dip tube) in addition to Morebeers patented sparge arm, and am fairly happy with them, plus they were substantially cheaper than Blichmanns (Lots of my friends have Blich.; they make some nice kettles, but are expensive).

Direct fire kettles make decoction mashing much less of a pain in the ass, although it still sucks (unfortunately its a necessity for a stellar hefe, bock or munich dunkel).
