Definitely just bought myself some of these.

We're turning Hallowe’en inside out and upside down. Pumpkinhead is not your usual unctuous, cloyingly sweet Hallowe’en pumpkin ale. Sure, there’s a huge heady hit of pungent spice on the nose, but it’s followed with bright and zesty citrus flavours, and a light mouthfeel.

Spicy and sweet autumnal favourites like toasted marshmallow and toffee apple are just some of the complex notes you’ll find in our first twisted take on a pumpkin ale, which weighs in at 5.1% ABV.

The label artwork is designed by Johnathan Reiner.

    ABV: 5.1%
    OG: 1055
    IBU's: 20
Malts: Extra Pale, Munich, Dark Crystal, Amber
    Hops: Nugget, Willamette, First Gold
Twist: Spiced with Grains of Paradise, Star Anise, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Ginger & Clove

Would be nice if Shipyard do everyone a favour and sue them a bit.

Pumpkin ale is pretty rare in the uk, it's not a particularly british vegetable I suppose. We don't really eat pumpkin pies for example

I think they are crap by and large (of the few i've tried at least), same with most spiced winter warmers too. IMO of course :open_mouth:

Is 5.1% a typo? Why wouldn't they make a 51% pumpkin beer? No balls, I say. No balls.

Hoping it's gonna be better than the Shipyard one :stuck_out_tongue:

Pumpkin is definitely more of a savoury thing here though, so that's why I'm interested to see their take.

Hopefully their take will be better than the mass produced stuff flooding the market over the past few months.

There's a few things I like about this,
    1) Released in October presumably through December, rather than in the summer.
    2) Not crazy high abv or barrel aged
    3) still sounds like a unique take on the style

I probably won't like the price like all beers from Brewdog, but I'll give it a shot if I see it.

If the price is too crazy I can always put one in my suitcase and bring it with me when I come to CA in March and ship it to you... however I'm not sure how it'll hold up over that much time!

I totally agree with your points though, it's what I liked about it too.

Tasted it on tap last week. Terribly over spiced and very thin. Can't say I'm not suprised.

It comes packaged in an actual pumpkin and the beer's best by date is the day that the pumpkin starts to ferment. Retail price: $179.00

I have never had the chance to try a pumpkin Beer it is not common at all in Northern Ireland... I would definitely be interested to give it a go. Is it being stocked by the larger supermarkets? There is a Sainsbury and Tesco near me are they likely to be stocking this...

They couldn't google "pumpkinhead" to see that there's already a shitty pumpkin ale with that name?

No, we have not yet broached that level of craft. Thankfully.

    No to the lattes.

I haven't tried it yet, but trying something new never hurts

I'm not sure, worth a look! Also if you have Wetherspoons they should have Elysian's Night Owl on at the moment which is s pumpkin ale  If not, I think there's some on Brewdog's site
