Im with Kal on this, love their bars, and very nice people there. The brewers, on the 2 occasions ive talked to them, were very nice and the one time I sent an email I got a reply the next day.
I think some of the bad rep comes from their antics and their price/beers. The price is exacerbated by the fact that is a UK brewery and then it being imported, quality on ipas probably suffers a bit as it probably doesnt hit shelves in the US for a good 2months+ after it being brewed.

    cheers

I've really enjoyed the show. It's humorous and perfectly captures what they're all about while still promoting craft beer in a positive and fun way. I liked how they couldn't really find any "craft beer virgins" in CO...because out here they really exist with Fat Tire, Avalanche, and White Rascal everywhere you look.

Yeah, you might have to go to some VFW & American Legion bars & even then you might not get too many newbs. Other than San Diego & maybe pockets of Philly, you aren't finding many in these first 5 cities/areas. Bring them out to my neck of the woods, tons of craft beer "virgins"...

You should have asked me before you bought it! Those Brew Dog beers had been sitting on the shelves since at least April. This is part of the reason I quit to start my own store. I tasted them out about 2 months ago and they were bad then.

That's the point where I turned it off. At least 2-5 were accurate.

    This.

They seem like ok guys, but the incessant attempts to fondle women are becoming increasingly more uncomfortable. In one episode the lady's like, "I have a boyfriend" and the response was "sit on my lap".

I can't help it but when I read the brewdog thread the voice in my head says it with a scottish accent.

The eliticism appears to be all on their part and the segment is ridiculous.

Sure, you can go into a nail salon and "convert" people to craft beer. Try to walk into Falling Rock or any other bar featured on that show and sell brewdog beer. Not a f*cking chance.

But as I said, I enjoy the show for the most part.

They are not trying to sell BrewDog Beer. They are trying to convert peoples preconceived notions of what "beer" taste like. Trying to show anyone who has had a BMC beer that beer does not have to just be the yellow fizzy stuff as my good friend StoneGreg likes to refer to it as. Nail Salons, Train stations, golf courses, old age homes, wherever, they are putting craft beers out there for all to taste and letting people make their own judgements. And when you hear the 80 yo woman in the nursing home say "this isn't like any beer i have ever tasted", that is something we can all relate to since we all said that at some point in our own conversion from BMC to the good stuff.

100% agreed. We just watched the CO show on DVR and my wife and I felt withdrawal from our move about 10 years ago from CO back east.

At least you moved to civilization:stuck_out_tongue: The scene is improving here, but if it wasn't for the fact Prairie has come on the scene & I live from Missouri (& all the great beers I can get there), I'd be either suicidal or homebrewing a batch every other week.

Lol. Used to be a big fan of the Odell's 90 Schilling, Boulder Beer Buffalo Gold, and Lefthand Sawtooth Ale to mention a few back in the day before IPAs and craft beer whatnot!

Yes, he is. I read an interview in I think it was Gourmet magazine, he said he doesn't touch the mega beer conglomerate stuff. Zac brown is another person who loves hits craft beer as we'll.

Yeah, Imagine how hard it was to leave in 09, to basically move back to mid 1990s beer selection at best. To be fair, I could live off Great Divide & all other beers would just be gravy...

I watched a few episodes over the weekend. I enjoyed the beer history of each town and the sit-downs with esteemed brewmasters. As annoying as their immaturity gets, I think it's helpful; the fact that they really don't seem to take themselves too seriously. This had the potential of being a show that encompasses everything that's shitty about craft beer, and they successfully navigated away from that by putting together something like Bourdain meets the Mythbusters.
