Decent enough show if you fast forward through the brewing challanges and can deal with those two wankers.

I think it's a pretty good show. I'd say 35% of it is useful information (much more than most shows on TV nowadays) but I think they could easily trim down some of the bullshit in the show (craft beer virgins, stupid jokes/sexual innuendos) but I guess that "bullshit" is why it's on the Esquire Network. I understand that us dudes are the target demographic but I think they should have made the show a bit more factual and travel based so it can appeal to any demographic. If I want a drinking documentary/comedy I'll just watch Three Sheets or whatever Zane has been up to lately....However, I think it's really cool that they don't talk much about their own brewing company and instead focus on whatever local breweries are in the region they are in. They really seem to be passionate about making the entire craft movement succeed as a whole, not just their own endeavors. As much as I liked Brewmasters, I felt like I was watching a giant Dogfish Head promotion the entire time....and don't get me wrong I love DFH and Sam is a very likable guy.

I personally think if they trimmed down the content and made it more travel oriented (so it can appeal to more demos) and maybe found a more popular network (like Travel Channel, Discovery, etc.) I think the show would have more success.

    Just my 2 cents.

Well I hope your relatively close proximity to Hill Farmstead, Heady Topper, Lawson's, Maine Beer Co, White Birch, Jack's Abby, Night Shift Brewing, Wormtown and even Ebenezer's, where you can get pretty much any beer on the planet, has somehow made up for your home sickness. Trust me, I'll trade some Odells or whatever for any of the above companies beers. Let's swap places?

    Now I'm getting homesick....

I've watched every episode through Portland. I'm moderately entertained.

I enjoy the "lists" about top 5 beers in a city, top 5 bars etc.

I enjoy the meeting and discussions with the brewery owners/brewmasters.

I dislike the segments on the mad-scientist brewing scheme they do.

I dislike the way they talk (strange accent...sound like a Canadian/Scotch hybrid dialect or something).

I'm jealous to the fact they have an awesome adventure...2 twenty/thirty somethings, traveling around US. I'm sure if they did an uncensored/uncut version it would be quite decadent.

I wish they would spend more time with discussions with locals on the beer scene/stereotypes in each area they visit.

If they don't go up to Vermont, then the show has failed. Boston is next stop, so hopefully Vermont is scheduled in.

I've watched two episodes and agree. They could cut this down to 30 minutes and it would be better. I like the top 5 lists, the meetings with the brewers, talking to locals, the travel/beercation aspect to it, but their accents are annoying, their jokes are stupid, and they could cut out the mad scientist bit and the craft beer virgins scenes, which add nothing. Nevertheless, it's a show about craft beer, so I'll probably watch it, but I make sure to DVR so I can skip over the annoying parts.

Saw it for the first time this weekend n a mini marathon on the channel I didn't know we had. Scanning the programming and said hmmm...wonder what brew dogs is all about, I like brew, I like dogs. Shows how much I pay attention, I guess. Enjoyed it, didn't think I would. It is irreverent, makes some good points, informational enough. Has to balance between educational and factual and entertaining. Think the science weirdness is cool. The coffee one was very cool IMHO. I can do without the sophomoric sexist stuff. It was mildly amusing the first time, but once was enough.

I peeped like all of these last Saturday on demand cause i was bored. At first I didn't like the hosts; I thought they were kind of dull and thought they needed subtitles so i can understand what they say. But I kind of am starting to like it. And as much as i hate gimmicky beer and gimmicky stuff in general, most of the beers i would try and probably appreciate on some level. They do go beyond thunderdome on some stuff (using sunrays beamed to their mashpot and whatnot) just for the sake of being able to say they did it. It doesn't ruin the show for me though. Some segments are weak but they do go to some good breweries. Keep in mind my perspective is coming from having never heard of them, drank their beers, ate at their pubs, or whatever. I'm coming to realize they are well established in the beer community and brew tactical nuclear penguin and shit. I'm only judging the show and not all the stuff that a lot of you may know about them. And they have some lousy jokes (i'm pretty sure i heard "that's what she said" a few times in one episode) but even the best of us make stupid jokes. I also like how they talk about beer ingredients, show some of the brewing process (which is informative to a nonbrewer but probably is basic info to brewers) and i like how they talk about specific yeasts and malts and hops. That Zane Lamprey dude has much stupider shit in his show and his co-drinker is more of a tool than these two Scotts combined.

If I see them say "Hello" to another beer while they smell it I'm gonna shoot myself. That being said it's cool to see the other breweries and hear what those guys are doing and some of it is definitely educational.

they drank plenty of boston lager. (watched it this morning when i woke up at 4:30. had it dvr'd. finished the half pint of irish stout i had left sitting on my window sill. perfect) It was the first beer they shared to gain inspiration for the recipe and they had it on the boat too. I don't know why he served the bottled version though...you'd think it would be some fresh fresh

No I just think they are open to new experiences. We all should be.
Is inhaling beer a good thing? I don't know, but I would try it just to have the experience.
You guys of all people should support experimentation. That is what your extreme beer fest is all about.

I just finished watching Philly, Portland and Boston. My assessment is that it is purely amusing and somewhat educational, but I think the show fulfills its purpose......entertainment. With craft beer becoming so popular they show may be able to reach a market that will enjoy it.

For the hardcore beer enthusiasts which probably describes over 90% of us, it will probably get dull very quickly. However, the variety of cities that they visit and for me to be seeing local breweries from those locales will keep me interested.
