Have to say, as a home brewer, I love the show. My take on home brewing is: I am more interested in making creative, original beers than trying to create a perfect specimen of a standard style if only for the fact that if I want a great IPA, I'll go grab a six of Jai Alai, if I want a solid Imperial stout, I'll grab some Marshal Zhukov. DIPA? Swap Ape.

Home brewing gives my friends and me a chance to try something original. That to me is what the show is about. Is it "gimmicky"? Absolutely. But it is fun. Two weirdos going around brewing beers that have never been made before in bizarre places, Why wouldn't I enjoy that?

    As an addendum:
I miss Brewmasters. I enjoyed seeing a beer show from that perspective.

It's "gimmicky" because they're trying to appeal to more than just the homebrew crowd... we're a small piece of the population that they're trying to target. It happens on nearly every show out there, gotta get those ratings!

I enjoy the show just because it's one of the only home brew shows on tv and I enjoy seeing different breweries and brew pubs in different areas. My family took a road trip to Portland a few weeks back and I went to nearly all of their top 5 brew pubs, they where all great! Belmont Station was awesome.

I love Sam, but I fell asleep to that show even more. I liked the fact the brewdogs featured other brewers & locales. Granted, I believe the gimmicky brewing methodology angle is beaten to death...

Count me in the group that likes the show, I think it has enough variety to interest people that post on BA and people that are less familiar with craft beer. I think some of you guys are being overly critical, maybe you'd prefer a show debating how this years Hopslam tastes worse than last years, etc etc.

As a home brewer and craft beer enthusiast, I loved the show. Was so sad that there was only 7 episodes and overjoyed at the news of a second season. Their favorite local breweries and bars, as well as their efforts to incorporate local culture into the beers is awesome. As someone who likes to travel, I have been to some of the bars they've been to and take notes of cities/bars I haven't. If you don't like the show, lighten up a bit. Go for a walk or something. Have a beer.
