I'm going to The Black Keys concert in a couple weeks at San Diego state. Is there any good breweries or bars close by?
I know this sounds silly but Alpine is about 25 minutes away. But that might be the closest you'll ever be to Alpine .
Go to K&B Wine Cellar, which is just North of the 8, right near College. It's a great bottleshop that has a bar / restaurant attached.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll be I town Friday till Monday for beer week and the concert. I'll definitely check out K&B and alpine.
k and b is REALLY close and has a great selection! glad no one has mentioned ugly dog yet. i went there shortly after it opened one night after work at tiger and i had just tapped the benchmark oatmeal stout and decided to order that when i got to ugly dog. it tasted completely different and oxidized and i asked the bartender about it and she said it was fine. didnt even go to try it after i told her something was wrong with it... it was also annoying to look at their board and see so many beers listed under the wrong styles or have the wrong information. i think if you are going to try to get taken seriously as a beer bar here you cant afford to half ass anything. so um, dont go there!
Oggi's has a location on campus in the new student center. About 10 guest taps and various happy hours deals on house stuff. Not the selection that KnB or West Coast BBQ offer, but much closer.
