New Amsterdam Amber Beer from The Old New York Brewing Co. was originally contract-brewed by F. X. Matt in Utica, NY - which was still going by their prior name of West End Brewing Co. Joe Owades helped develop the beer, which he'd later do for BBC and numerous other early contract-brewed "craft" beer.

By Spring 1986 or so, ONYBC has opened their short-lived brewery (approx. 30k bbl capacity, tho' they likely never came near that) on the west side of Manhattan at 11th Ave/W. 26th, which would close the following year and brewing returned to Utica.

But, yeah, it was great stuff - both the flagship Amber Beer

... as well as their New Amsterdam Ale.

Came here to say the same thing about Pretty Things even though I don't live in Mass anymore. Jack D'Or was one of the first saisons I fell in love with. It's a shame. They were a great brewery.

    Good Nature , in Hamilton,NY .
A case of The-Distributor-Screwed-It-Up. Their beers were showing up old/oldish, so ~nobody bought them, or bought them & regretted it, so the remaining stock sat there & got even older. Now, except for seasonal or special releases (such as Snow Weasel :+1: ) they are missing here, <1hr from the brewery.

    Their session IPA , Non-Stop Hop Onslaught , (4%, but drinks like a 6-7%er[oats]) was a go-to, that is especially missed .:frowning2:

I didn’t even notice not seeing their beers on shelves anymore. Non-Stop is/was an awesome, low abv ipa for sure. Blight buster was also really good and I remember really enjoying their brown ale.

CL’s wild/barrel program is criminally under-appreciated. Definitely been a little concerned that we won’t be seeing those types of beers from them now that they’ve found a new niche in the hazy/pastry market.
Also, what happened to the Smoke from the Oak series?!?! Those beers were tasty.

CL retired Smoke From The Oak a long time ago. I remember them well, one of the three variations was superior, the blue label. The apple brandy and rum were not that good if I recall.

Great Divide's Rumble is easily my #1 and I don't even really have anything to replace it with. Oak Aged Jai Alai is the closest thing and CC only brews it sporadically.
If anyone feels like brewing a slightly old school IPA with oak chips, count me in.

Anything from Bert Grant the porter and Scotch ale I really miss.
I also miss the Miller with the red label used to love that beer.
Bass Ale from England the American version only okay not the same beer.

I miss being able to get Sweet Water Blue. Haven't had one in for ever. Also miss being able to get Abita variety packs. There was also this beer from Magic Hat called Hocus Pocus. And StarGazer from Karl Strauss, I never knew why they discontinued It.

I remember drinking that Miller Red (label) when I was a teen. I didn’t like the taste of a lot of beer back then but I remember really enjoying that one.
