Interesting. I lived in Brno in the mid-90s, but I don't remember much about the local beer.

Must say I miss these, though there would be very little demand for them these days:
    John Courage
    Wild Goose Amber
    Whitbread Pale Ale

I miss Breckinridge 72 Chocolate Imperial Cream Stout and also the BA version. Only lasted about a year after the buy out . The BA version was my introduction to this style. Light on whiskey for my wimpy palette back then. I still glance at the Breckenridge section when shopping hoping it magically shows up.

I always try to plan out a new year by drinking: Celebration Ale (as much as I can stock in the frig) > Hopslam (about a case) > Bell's Smitten (about a case). I have been missing that nice Rye tinged Smitten Ale for awhile as I adjust the calendar.

Anybody in PA see a Yuengling Porter sighting? It’s a great beer and they still make the Black and Tan which I think was a blend of their premium and porter.

I also really would like a Dogfish Head Piercing Pils right about now.

I miss the Black IPA, one being Firestone's Wooky Jack.

Well, it has been a few months since I was permitted to enter the buildings but my local Retail Beer Distributors would have small stacks of the Porter. Needless to say it appeared small in relation to the big stacks of Traditional Lager.

    Cheers!

P.S. I homebrew my own Porters & Stouts so this is not a beer I would personally purchase.

What is your personal definition between the difference between a porter and a stout? I know the topic in general sometimes ends up a shitshow so I was just curious about your opinion in particular since you brew them. ABV/color?

I will have to throw a flag here: 15 yards for taunting.

The Porter I brew is my version of Hill Farmstead Everett and Shaun Hill categorized his beer as being a Porter so I too do so.

The Stout I make is an Oatmeal Stout so there you go it has to be a Stout, right? I homebrew my Oatmeal Stout three times a year since it is my 'best selling' homebrewed beer for friends & family. I think it is a good beer but my friends/family absolutely love this beer. Because of this I think it is kinda 'funny' how there are so little brands of Oatmeal Stout commercially brewed.

    Cheers!

I discussed a side-by-side taste test of my homebrewed Robust Porter & Hill Farmstead Everett in a past New Beer Sunday thread:

Victory Whirlwind wit. I’m not seeing it as officially retired anywhere, but I’ve not seen it in quite some time. Was a little bit hit-or-miss out of the bottle sometimes, but still a seasonal that I looked forward to.

Sam Adams Imperial White. Over the top, the way I like my beers.

The wife misses Wild Blue from Blue Dog...a casualty of AB/InBev thinking Blue Point anything was good. We stopped giving them any money once WB went away...ok other than GI BCBS. I enjoyed it too on occasion. Fruity, arguably even a beer, but damned if it wasn’t refreshing and delicious.

Such a smooth flavorful beer. At a really competitive price point.

First visit up to Portland back in 2003, back when my IPA palate was young and naïve, Da Boss and i came across the Bridgeport brewpub. Orderd the IPA and man i fell head over heals in love - it was the best thing since sliced fresh bread! It was a sad day when it was announced they were closing as we did get some distro here in AZ of the IPA and others. Cheers, Tom

Oh man, what I'd give to have some Sublimely Self-Righteous back in my life. One of the best examples of a Black IPA ever.

I don't reckon that I have ever tasted an IPA that tasted close to the Bridgeport. I feel just as sad losing it as losing the former great Ballantine XXX.

If they might be so inclined, it would be nice to see the Sam Adams Double Bock make a return as well.

New Glarus Fruit Beers in Illinois (we lost distribution here a few years ago). Not a big fan of their core lineup, but their fruit, experimental beers and Kid Kolsch are great.

Goose Island Honkers Ale (though sometimes available at the brewery or taproom) and Pepe Nero (discontinued completely).

I didn't become a big beer guy until five years ago, was mostly a whiskey / bourbon drinker.
