Beer was never outstanding, more for nostalgia reasons... first brewpub that I frequented a LOT during grad school.

This is absolutely horrible news. I'm heading down in a couple of weeks and that's one of the beers I was looking forward to be able to get...

Olfabrikken Porter...a beer sadly many on this site wont ever get to have... what a terrific beer...

    Depth Charge... see above...

Both of these beers were absolutely world-class...

Oh man double bastard I loved that ,and a few of the variants. that beer was tongue buckling in the best way. I never cared for arrogant though.

Same with me - Double was amazing, but I never drank more than one Arrogant. Hope they bring it back at some point!

Ithaca Brute. In the top handful of beers I’ve ever had.

I also really miss my weekly (or more) stops to COAST Brewing Company. They are still there, but I am not, having moved about 3 years ago. Such good people and good beer. Unfortunately I do not think they will ever get the recognition they deserve, neither for their exceptional products nor their overall impact on the craft beer industry in SC with all the leg work they did to fix the antiquated beer laws in that state.

Whoa wait a second. I’m just starting to get back in the scene after a several year hiatus. Have both DoubleBastard and Arrogant Bastard been retired?!?!

Sorry to bum you out. I guess I'm not certain they're completely out of the state, so maybe if you're not coming to the Tampa area? But I don't think they're here anymore.

I've enjoyed most everything I've received in trades from COAST. But I've always wondered why it's always capitalized... is it an acronym I'm unaware of?

It's a bit sad how sometimes things we really enjoyed don't stay around. There are a lot of beers I can't find anymore. Or have been superseded. Like my (not-exciting) stand-by, Point's retired Cascade PA.

Still, the beer I miss the most is a mystery beer at this point. It was one of those times where a friend hands you a beer and you love it, but the next morning you have no memory of what it was called.

Maybe it's better I don't know what it was. Chances are it's long-gone from production, so even if I could figure it out, it'd just make me more wistful for it.

It's a bit like the Tenacious D song Tribute. I can't remember the greatest beer in the world, but I do remember how great it was.

Great question, I do not know. They used to occasionally post on BA, @coast are you around to answer this question?

Grants fresh hop and Celtic ale. Actually most things by grant.

Catamount Amber was another. Wasn't really an amber as much as it was an American version of English ale. I miss that style.

I miss many of the early craft breweries that have closed or become corporate. I prefer traditional style beers. Early NW brewers Widmer (for German styles, including MaiBock), Bridgeport (for their early cask Porter), Grant (Scottish Ale), Pyramid (Pale Ale). In the Midwest Hibernia for their dark Weizen. In the East, Blue Point for ESB and Pale Ale, Manhattan Brewing for their range of British ales, Newman for his Ales. Among the macros, Ortlieb brewed the last faithful batches of McSorleys, as well as Boar Head Stout. Huber in Monroe, WI, made a German style Augsburger. The original Stegmaier brewed a full-flavored Porter (in the 60's that was reputed to be McSorley's ale house draft dark).

They distributed to Birmingham back around 2010 and they were some of my first go to craft beers. 8 Bit Pale Ale, Buffalo Sweat Stout, and Halcyon Wheat were great. And they had great can art.

    Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier

I'll be honest, the last 2 were beers I drank when I first started to get into craft beer. May not like them now, but they do have some nostalgia.
