    Greetings!

I'll be heading up to Cape Cod tomorrow on Business from down here in Sunny South Florida. What are some suggested local breweries or bottleshops I can visit while I'm in town? Would there be any way (even with the impending closure) for me to find some Heady or Hillstead that far south? I'm not familiar with the NE beer scene as I am with it down here or on the west coast.

I'll be coming up more than this trip so if anyone wants to do some IP trades on my next trip I'd be good for it. My project manager booked us on another airline than the one where I have free checked bags.

No Heady or Hill Farmstead, you need to travel to Vermont or know someone who will trade you for those beers.

There is Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis, www.capecodbeer.com or Mayflower Brewery in Plymouth. Both should be widely available on the cape or on draft at various restaurants.

For stores, Kappys in Falmouth is probably the best option down there or perhaps Lukes Liquors in Yarmouth. It all depends where you are staying for restaurants that may have good options for beer.

Where on the Cape will you be? It is a big place.

I would not go to Nantucket for Cisco unless you plan on vacationing there or go ever for a day trip. It is a great place though, and I would recommend going when you are not on business. The ferry to get there is also pretty expensive.

In terms of stores the Cape is behind the rest of the state, but there are a few good stores. Cranberry Liquors in Harwich usually gets most of money these days. Kappys in Falmouth is good, but is pain in the ass to get to depending where you are. If you fly in through Boston there are several stores right off the highway on the way down that are leagues better than what is down here.

Cape Cod Beer is your best bet in terms of breweries. You can only get their beer on draft or in growlers.

If you plan to bring beer back, Cape Cod also does 32oz bottles.
Check for other local stuff that you can't get down in FL. Jack's Abby is relatively common down there, You can find Pretty Things and some of the other locals.
IF you are flying into Boston, and are able to stop at bottle shops near there, check out Mystic, Idle hands, NightShift among others. You may be able to find Maine Brewing, though probably not Lunch. Heady and Hill do not distribute at all, so you will not find it in Boston, unless you can set up an IP trade in time.

Thanks for the advice guys. I should have been specific where I'm staying. Staying in Hyannis. Meeting with Cape Cod Health. Is traveling through the Cape actually as difficult as some of you make it sound?

I'll be flying into PVD and I'm flying out of Logan.

This time of year the Cape is empty.

If u are flying into PVD and have time Track 84 is across street. Nothing fancy just a beer bar. I think they serve sandwiches in shop next to it.

Then if u are leaving out of Logan, Trillium is in the seaport area

These options work if u have control over driving situation

It is not difficult, its just all the good worthwhile beer stops are few and far between. I would hit up Cape Cod Beer for sure. It is right in Hyannis, and Hyannis is not difficult to get around this time of the year. You could check out Lukes in Hyannis, or Moonshine Liquors too. Those are the only worthwhile shops in Hyannis. There is another Lukes in West Yarmouth that is pretty good. A lot better than the Hyannis one imo, and not far away.

If you are flying out of Logan, and have time to kill I would stop at Granite Liquors in Weymouth on your way up. One of the best stores in the state. There could be more viable options in Boston too.

If you are coming from Providence, stop by Wines and More in Wareham. I will warn you that it is expensive..six packs are slightly overpriced..bombers you will pay at least $1.50 more than usual..However, they have singles and perhaps the biggest overall variety around these parts. I agree with hitting Granite on the way up to Boston.

Granite is one of the best stops to hit on the way to Logan, its probably 3 minutes off exit 16 on Route 3 north. Also if you are meeting with Cape Cod Health, the hospital is located near Lukes in Hyannis and pretty close to Lukes in West Yarmouth, both shops are on Route 28. Also near the hospital, on Main Street in Hyannis is the British Beer Company, they will have some of the best draft options available for a lunch or dinner, such as Founders Breakfast Stout and Harpoon Chocolate Stout they just mentioned on their Facebook.

If you are coming in via PVD take the time to go to Hyannis via Falmouth so you can hit Kappys. I would also recommend Wicked ( http://www.wickedrestaurant.com ) in Mashpee (20 minute drive) and second the rec for British Beer Company in Hyannis for places to visit that normally have some local NE beers on tap. The food at Wicked is very solid as well; well worth the short drive in my opinion. Start your mornings at ( http://www.paindavignon.com ) for great coffee and baked goods…hidden gem in Hyannis.

    Enjoy your trip

Thanks guys! I'll be back up there in a few weeks. This past trip wasn't spectacular for beer. Just some Cape Cod Brewing on tap at a couple local spots. I went to the Black Cat for lunch. Great lobster roll. Also hit up Harpoon on the way out of Logan.

I'm not sure what you are looking for that would make it "spectacular". You won't find Heady of HF on Cape Cod. The Cape has come along way..but is not going to have the selection of a major city...and tends to be loyal to the locals...Cape Cod Beer, Mayflower, Cisco. Can't get those in Florida right? Next time stop by the brewery and check us out. We're 5 mins from cc healthcare. While you will mostly find our red, IPA and blonde out and about we have 7 beers at the brewery right now including a weizen bock, Porter, Brown and holiday seasonal. Black IPA comes out 12/16 along with out mint chocolate porter. We think they are all pretty spectacular!

    Cheers
    CCB
