Traveling from Central NJ to Alexandria, VA in a few months and starting to plan the trip and wondering if we can stop at any Breweries/Brewpubs along the way? Preferably AFTER we go through Philadelphia.
When I look on the map I see Argilla and Two Stones Pub around Christianna, DE. Can anybody recommend them or someplace else?

    Thanks!

Argilla isn't bad, but it is more out of the way. Two Stones is better, and hopefully will get through all the red tape and have some of their own beers on tap some, they are brewing in PA I believe they have to work with a distributor to get their own beer. The other nice part about hitting up Two Stones is it is only a few miles from State Line in Elkton and you can bypass the DE/MD toll on 95. Stewart's is pretty good too, but isn't super close to 95, but shouldn't be too hard to get too.

    I use this---

    http://www.brewerymap.com/

Hit the road trip tab, plug in start and end points and how far from your route you're willing to vary.

    Iron Hill in Neward, DE
Jail Break brewing in Laurel, MD
a must stop at the DE/MD border is State Line Liquors.

Heaven Seas isn't too far of a detour as well in Baltimore.

Stewart's in Bear is a bit off 95 but not too bad.

I wouldn't waste your time on Duclaw or Heavy Seas. They each have a few good beers but nothing spectacular. Just my opinion of course. If you are going to jump off 95 Max's is the place to go in Fells Point, Baltimore.

Now considering one of these on the way and a second on the return trip:
    DuClaw Bel Air, MD
    Two Stones Pub Wilmington/Newark, DE
    Union Craft Brewing Baltimore, MD
    Heavy Seas Baltimore, MD
    Max's Fells Point Baltimore, MD
    Jailbreak Brewing Laurel, MD
    Frisco Taphouse Columbia, MD

Two Stones is selling their own beer (2SP Brewing Co.) now, so that's a good lunch/dinner stop for you

My vote goes to Max's without a doubt and my second choice would be Union. Just my two cents. Jailbreak has some good beers but I have not personally been there.

If you're going along Route 1 in Delaware past the beaches and through Ocean City, MD there area a ton of new breweries that just opened up that are within 30 minutes of eachother. Big Oyster Brewery just opened in June and it's attached to a really good seafood restaurant. Well worth the stop.
Dog Fish Head, 16 Mile, 3rd Wave, Dewey Beer Co., and Crooked Hammock are all breweries that are in the general area of Sussex County, DE. Lots of good beer, good food, and good people.
