Me and a buddy will be going to Rare Day and will be getting there early on the 12th. Are there any breweries/eateries with good brews that we absolutely need to check out?? Help an out-of-towner out please!

Original 'Kuma's' corner will not dissapoint. Id start there. Food (burgers specifically) and beer is great.

Revolution's brewpub has probably the best beer + food combo in the city

Where are you staying, @Avelasquez80 ? I second Kuma's if you like burgers, although the wait can be ridiculous. I'm also a big fan of the (relatively) new Lagunitas taproom and Goose Clybourn and the inevitable trip across the street to Binny's Lincoln Park.

We'll be staying around the Ogden Park area, but i'll probably be renting a car to get around. Thanks for the responses guys!

I should clarify, Kuma's isn't a brewery but serves a wide variety of good beer along with their food.

And @whatruDOINdragic is right: the wait at original Kuma's can be pretty insane, especially on the weekends. Usually when I go, it's right around lunch time, about 15 minutes before it opens.

AuChavel is another great alternative to Kuma's for a burger. I would recommend any of the following:
Haymarket: really solid beer, and decent food in the West Loop
    Half Acre
    Lagunitas
    Revolution
Marie's Packaged Goods (a good store and bar)

If you're staying at the Ogden Park that's on the South Side, be careful man. Englewood is very, very rough and not the kind of place you want to walk around late at night.

Local Option is pretty cool too...it's kinda like a Three Floyds North (great selection of beer, Nordic death metal at 103 decibles)
