Last summer they had a couple limited offerings in the taproom if I remember right which I found a step in the right direction.

I personally think the taproom is pretty nice..a stones throw from Lake Superior..

But I agree I wouldn't make the trip just to stop there. We usually stop after biking or hiking up that way..

According to their website; they have a few beers that aren't available in stores. So, since the wife wants to see the Split Rock Lighthouse, we will likely stop. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I was in Duluth a few weeks ago, stopped at Hoops and also had several beers at the new (to me) Barrel Room at Fitgers. Both were fantastic.

Hoops, Bent Paddle & Castle Danger were great. Canal Park Brewery had a limited selection on tap.

Tell me more about this barrel room...the place right across the hall?

Yes, it is the place directly across from the existing brewpub. I'm guessing they got the space to handle the overflow. The vibe is a little different with a higher end finish and causal seating areas, etc. Same prices, same beers and you can get food.

I was glad it was there as it was over a 1/2 hour wait for a table in the old part.
