There's probably been tons of posts like this already so sorry if this has been asked a million times already. But!.... I am going to London with a friend the first weekend of February and is looking for some advice on the best breweries to visit while there. We'll arrive Friday 1st of February and leave again on the 3rd. Also we're going to a concert on Saturday night so we don't have a lot of time.

First off; is the Bermondsey Beer Mile worth it? My friend and I kinda already agreed we're going but I've read a few places that is not what it used to be. And if it is worth going when is the different breweries open? Would Friday (afternoon) be possible or is Saturday the only day everything is open?

Next; what breweries is worth a visit? I myself really wanted to check out Beavertown, since I'm a big fan of their beers, and just discovered there's another brewery right next to it (forgot the name). So we could in theory hit up two breweries pretty easily. Was also thinking about Gipsy Hill but it seems to be a bit far away from everything so not sure if it's worth the trip? Is there any others breweries that we should be considering instead? As I said we're going to a concert Saturday night so a visit to a brewery or two before going would be perfect.

Also, since I'm already asking a lot of questions, what's the best pub(s) in the Whitechapel area, preferably a place that makes great fish'n'chips? And lastly, the best burger in the Brixton area?

Is there a reason you particularly want to visit breweries rather than pubs and bars? TBH I don't really know which are good breweries to visit because visiting them is never really a thing that it's occurred to me to do, despite living just up the road...

Kernel's takeaway only now and there's a lot of slightly bandwagon-jumpy places have opened up since it started, but if you're selective about where you go rather than trying to tick everywhere then it's still good. Brew By Numbers is essential, Partizan also IMO, Cloudwater's place is excellent and the Bottle Shop outlet is fairly great. Some of the other breweries and bars are more variable.

Can't remember but it's all going to be online. Avoiding Saturday afternoon is good if you can because you'll avoid it being mobbed with stag parties etc.

Not really my area, but the Kings' Arms on Buckfast Street has a good reputation. Ditto the Wenlock Arms, although that's not really Whitechapel. Pride of Spitalfields off Brick Lane for a more trad London experience. Fairly limited food in any of them, though. Go to Tayyabs and eat lamb chops instead.

We're definitely going to some pubs as well, don't you worry. Visiting different breweries was just another excuse to have some more beers.

Looks like all the places you recommended in Bermondsey are open Friday night so we're probably gonna go check it out. And we can save the brewery visits for Saturday afternoon before the concert. Thanks a lot!
