Looks like the Gorge now has a map-and-passport program similar to the Bend Ale Trail: http://breweriesinthegorge.com/ Makes sense, given the density of breweries in the area. The wife and I are looking forward to visiting many of these places this weekend.
Would be nice if they had a tour bus for this weekend. I cant imagine going to all those breweries and driving!!!!
If you're going for the free collectors' pint glass, you only have to visit 8 out of 10, and 5 of those are within walking distance of each other in Hood River. Seems doable.
For as great as it is, Hood River is ridiculously underrated. I guess that's what happens when you occupy the same state as Bend and Portland.
And I'll add that for how many really nice beers they make, the beer community largely overlooks Full Sail. We talk about Heater Allen and Occidental as well as new breweries making nice lagers, but ignore that Full Sail does solid work in that arena.
Aye they do fine stuff..they do tend also to miss the mark now and again. And they are always reasonably priced.
Yeah, they're not gonna blow minds but Wreck the Halls, Wassail, Pale, Amber are all solid; there are some winners in the LTD series; the BA beers are affordable and not half bad; and the session lager is a great summer beer. For beer that you can have at an event with non-beer geeks and still really enjoy, they provide some of the best options around IMHO.
100% true. I don't think anything could illustrate that better than the fact that I've visited Hood River probably 8 times in the last four years and only made the time to visit Full Sail once. But you're definitely right. They make some solid stuff that I definitely don't buy enough. Employee owned too.
Hmmm. After further review of the passport and the website, it is not clear where one picks up the collector's pint glass after visiting 8 of the 10 Gorge breweries. Will investigate further today.
