Planning on taking full advantage of the FBOs courtesy cars:wink:? As mentioned above I would make a trip to Traverse City and hope that you will be able to borrow a car.

No Uber in Traverse City? Too pedestrian?

When you are paying $7.50/gallon for Avgas, it comes with some benefits.

Or there are benefits behind being able to afford AVgas -- said the guy who had to drop out of flight school 'cause he was going broke.

Quoting my instructor, "How do you make $1 million in aviation? Start with $2 million." :stuck_out_tongue:

Should of done what I did and work for the flight school after I took ground school in college. Free airplane and just had to pay the instructor. Got my private for less than 3k.

I'm shocked no one's mentioned yet that the Decorah airport is only about a half mile across the highway from Toppling Goliath. That may be easier then trying to catch the taxi from in town. Part of me is convinced that's why they set the new location so far outside of town... just for stout release weekends!

I recommend DuPage Airport if you are considering the Chicago area.

DuPage Airport (Solid breweries with onsite / to-go options within a few miles):
    • Art History
    • Penrose
    • Pollyanna
    • Riverlands
There are no breweries near Palwaukee Airport, though I'd check out Superdawg if you ever fly to that location.

Yeah, I started much later in life... when I thought I was more financially secure.

Thinking on it, I don't think we had any aviation curriculum at my university. Probably would have been an incentive.

There really isn't much by Kansas City, Missouri's international airport; however, the municipality airport - Charles B Wheeler (MKC) - is situated in North Kansas City. The eastern terminal is probably 2mi from a collection of breweries (Big Rip and Cinderblock), and maybe 2mi in the other direction from Strange Days Brewing.

If you did go to Strange Days, you'd be a block or two away from our Streetcar, which is free public transit that connects our Crossroads, Downtown, and River Market neighborhoods. There are a number of breweries in the Crossroads (most heavily brewery populated area) with Red Sash, Double Shift, City Barrel, Casual Animal, Torn Label, and Border Brewing all being options. Probably a 18 minute ride on the street car from River Market to either Crossroads stop.

Judging from Google Maps, Toppling Goliath is an 11 minute walk from the Decorah, IA Municipal Airport.

There are 6 breweries within a 5-6mi radius of Dayton Wright Brothers Airport: Lock 27, Warped Wing (Springboro location), Crooked Handle, Loose Ends, Bock Family and Heavier Than Air. Dorothy Lane Market is a great high-end grocery with a very good selection of beer to-go. 4pks, 6pks and some singles as well - it's just around the corner from Crooked Handle and only 1mi from the airport.

To piggyback on this, Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland is about 1.5 miles from Noble Beast and about 1.6 miles to Masthead.

There's a small airport in Waupaca that's about 20 minutes from Central Waters. Grab a coffee from Ruby on the way back.
