WE'll be in Morrow Bay middle of July, looking forward to checking it out as well.

Love The Libertine. Check out their upstairs, one of the best views in that part of the coast. Nice whiskey selection, too.

Love Cambria Brewing. Cambria is a great foodie town, as well. Get reservations at Black Cat if you want dinner.

You probably already passed it, but Half Moon Bay Brewing is fucking awesome. New brewer took over in the last year or so.

FYI, prioritizing is a good idea. There are some shitty breweries on that drive, as well, so don't think you can or need to stop at each one. Some of the breweries already mentioned in this thread are places I would strongly recommend skipping.

Factor in traffic if you're heading to The Bruery on a weekday - most likely not worth it.

We have a weekend home up in Avilla Beach and have watched the explosion of craft beer over the last decade. We love taking friends to Cambria, HWY 1, The Libertine, as well as the usual suspects like FMBC, and FW. Like us, most of our friends are both big wine lovers and craft beer devotees. It seems that every other weekend someone is opening or adding some amazing hanldes to their lineup. We took some friends to dinner at VC last weekend in Paso and they had Alpine Hoppy Birthday on tap, its really is a great food, wine and craft beer destination, and oh, the clams ! best thing with a well made beer after a nice surf session with friends.

    Cheers,

i love Barrelworks but unless you are looking for sours i wouldn't say the tap list is generally better there. the main FW brewery generally has most of the Barrelworks stuff (minus sours) but then also has other awesome non barrel aged FW beers, including many tasting room only offerings

True, it's all a matter of taste. However, Barrelworks did have Saucerful of Secrets for a long while and that beer was sublime.

Institution Ales in Camarillo. They're relatively new and doing well.

Contact me when you get to SM and we'll get some beer.

I've only been once, but when I was at the Paso location, Parabola was the only BA beer on tap.

Sorry to veer in a different direction but Villa Creek in Paso Robles had Alpine Hoppy Birthday on tap? Was this possibly something leftover from the Firestone Invitational a few weeks back? I've yet to see any Alpine in SLO county since moving back up here a month or so ago. I think that is one of the latest beers they were brewing at Green Flash so it is possible but I had yet to hear Alpine making it this way.

And back on subject, I highly recommend Cambria brewing and the Libertine.

See the "Alpine brewing at Green Flash" thread. First was Nelson, then Duet, and now Hoppy Birthday. I *think* that's the entire current rotation, but that info should be somewhere in the Pacific forum.

Right. I was being lazy and didn't check that before I posted but got lucky by guessing the correct answer anyway. That said, I'm still curious if it is actually making its way to the Central Coast rather than just flying over us to get to the frisco market.

the two times i've been they had quite a few. parabola, sucaba, velvet merkin, anniversary, and even stickee monkee. i guess i should have clarified and said, the main brewery probably has the most variety of things on tap. between the restaurant and the 2 tasting rooms they have quite a few offerings.

i love Barrelworks too though. should go to both!

thome50, yea I was a bit surprised too, we were sitting in that indoor/ outdoor patio area to have a few drinks before dinner and my buddy came back and said they had HB. Our server said they had a brewmaster event a couple nights earlier and she thought that it was left over from that, she definitely wasn't that knowledgeable about the beer because when my friend asked if they had gotten the two previous beers, Nelson and Duet she replied that she had never heard of any of those beers ! LOL, sounds to me like it was from a possible FW tasting and we were just in the right place at the right time.

    Cheers,

Between Barrelworks and the main bar, you can get most of this and much more.

in my experience the taps at the main bar in Buellton are just the usual suspects (wooky jack, double jack etc..), whereas the tasting room in Paso has much more stuff
