Reading about F-Town/M.O.E. makes me think that, perhaps, Temke and Tod Fyten should partner up to open a brewery. It may never come to fruition, but we'd sure get to read a lot about their plan(s).

Yes! And Fytenburg is located in the same ZIP code.

When I first heard of F-Town's "relocation" plan, I wondered if he original location would transition to a beer bar (when the brewing equipment was removed) and be re-branded as a satellite of M.O.E. Craft Company, whether Burger Moe's was involved . . . so many questions!
I'd never heard anything specific about F-Town's early investors (much less about one of them being disillusioned) so you've shed some light on that.

I drove by there on Saturday, and it had it's sign up. Looking good, and I can't wait to see what they're doing.

I know people (beer can collectors, anyhow) out that way who are excited about it.
They have their brewery on order, plus a few tanks formerly used by Fitger's Brewhouse, so they might actually get 'er done in 2018.

Bob Collins from MPR News: "I met a guy a few weeks ago who is closing down his operation in Hugo and wants to reopen in Oakdale as a tap room and music venue -- he and partners are musicians. That idea would KILL in an area that desperately needs that sort of thing. Alas, he doesn't yet have the capital." He must be talking about Cosmos Brewing. See the comments to the linked article. Hat tip to Chaz, who posted the article in this thread the other day. Note that Hunyuck Brew Co. is in the works for Oakdale, with 3rd Act Craft Brewery in planning for neighboring Woodbury.

A quick editorial: Don't open a brewery without a taproom. That was never a good idea (well, at least since 2011 in Minnesota) and looks especially destined for failure in the current market environment.

Now that's funny! It would certainly be entertaining (maybe in a morbid sort of way...).

Has anyone had a chance to check out Boathouse Brothers in Prior Lake yet? I was going to try and swing by there with a friend tonight, but apparently it's closed for a few days because they don't have any beer.

I'm curious to hear any opinions on the place if you've had a chance to visit.

    Cheers!

Explains what happened to Cosmos Brewing then, I guess.

The venue is nice, but the beer isn't ready for prime time. The inefficient bartenders also could use some seasoning. To me it's one of the less impressive opening efforts of the last couple of years (based on beer alone) and well below fellow recent openings Spiral in Hastings (rushed but shows promise) and AEGIR in Elk River (amateurish but flavorful). That said, I never write off a brewery based on a single poor early showing. You're probably better off waiting for the next round of batches anyway.

I agree with Islay it is a nice place I got there around 3:15 grand opening at it was I shit show and people didn't know where to form a line to get a drink (no order beer here sign was up). I felt as if I was in an episode of the Real Housewives the way quite a few of the men and woman where dressed.
The beer I had was the amber good but I like my ambers a little less hoppy, the Irish stout was okay a little astringency, Cream lager was a good gateway beer and Smash CTZ which I thought was good sharpness to it
Like I told my spouse the beer was better than Baldman but not as good as Bad Weather.

The new Doebbeling BIP in Wadena will be called Drastic Measures Brewing. "[T]he plan is to open in late summer to early fall of 2018..." with a "10-barrel system and a 16-ounce canning line." "'I plan on offering a full range of styles, mostly concentrating on IPAs, fruited kettle sours, adjunct stouts, and barrel-aged beers,' Brett says."

I'm encouraged by the canning line announcement. So does anyone know if he has a distributor lined up yet or are we all just going to rely on the previous method of volunteers who head up there and bring down batches for their "friends"?

Thanks for the info, that's too bad. I ran into a few people last night who had also been there opening week and they said almost the same thing - the beer was pretty bad but a nice job on the remodel. They were pretty harsh on the beer though, and their impression was that only one beer they tried out of 6 or 7 was passable (their words).

I guess I'll wait a few months. Too bad for Prior Lake if they can't figure it out.

    Cheers

As of Sunday, Garphish has 6 beers ready to go and has final inspections scheduled for this week. They will be announcing their opening date soon.

Right before the split Disgruntled seemed to be dropping off can deliveries to several stores on a fairly consistent basis so hopefully he has a plan to do that from the start. I believe he can't sell pint cans out of the brewery taproom legally so that makes me think he plans to stock the cities unless Wadena and surrounding areas are big into craft beer.
