I've seen your post in a couple of threads now and man you're hard on yourself. 22 wasn't that long ago for me and back then and still now I think Yeti is one of the best widely available stouts out there. I was lucky enough to try a small sample of 2010 Dark Lord last winter... I'd happily drink Yeti any day over it simply because it packs a lot more bang for your buck. Sure, DL is a great beer but don't get caught up in all the hype around the special releases. Once you spend enough time in the beer scene you'll eventually be in the right place at the right time to try something special. I don't trade and I don't hunt down special releases but every so often I go to a festival or some bar event and give my luck a try and more often than not I walk out a happy man.

I have heard Goose Island barrel aged and Founders barrels but I would put Firestone Walker right up there with them if not better.

Bell's Stout line up is more diverse and better than any I can think of. Their IPA/DIPAs may be one of the best from a widely available brewery.

You need to ease up on yourself man. So long as the ideas you express on the forums are thoroughly considered and articulately expressed, there is no reason to worry.

Anyway, lets reserve counseling for some other thread.

Back to breweries that are simply better then the rest when it comes to a particular style or type of beer.

As a side note: Saying I think [beer-X] is the best example of [style-Y] is not quite what I was hoping this discussion would be (this has nothing to do with you Champaynes). Try to dig a little deeper. This is about consistency in excellence within some defined boundary. This is about possessing so much trust in a brewery to produce some type or style of beer, that you would seek out a new offering of that style or type from them, without second thought or reservation -- i.e. not hounding around on this site to figure out whether or not its worth your time or money to obtain.

Green Flash nails that west coast hoppy character in so many beers.

Unibroue could probably pass for an actual Belgian brewery.

I've really been struggling for the past few days not to start a thread specifically about how great I find their beer, but I think Jack's Abby is really phenomenal, and especially notable for the focus on lagers. In particular, fresh Hoponius Union (an india pale lager) really blew me away.

I'm aware that lager is probably more general than what you're looking for but I had to get it off my chest.

Screw people who respond to you in that manner, it's total garbage on their part. We all learn from each other and personally, I have no patience or tolerance for condescension either so I back you up on that.
