    Griffonclaw also distills.

As far as Mead, Cider, and Wine, several Breweries have licenses for those products, all are viewed as wine by the MI LCC.

B-Nektar is a meadery with a Brewing license.

I'm pretty sure one of Constellation's biggest reasons for buying BP was for their spirits. When they released their Devil's Share whiskey, most stores sold out the same day, aND they wwere like $200 a bottle! So if you have the ability to make a good spirit (or at least a halfway decent one) why not try your hand at it and see where it goes?

Very recently my brother had a bottle of Rogue Pink Spruce Gin that I thought was fantastic. It was the most unique and interesting gin I've ever had. Spruce-ey an aged in Pinot barrels. I'd buy it for myself if I ever come across it.

Anchor makes the best spirits of any distillery that is also a brewery. Their products stand up to major brands in their categories, not just to other spirits from breweries that also distill. They also make one of the only 100% rye whiskeys available on the market, and it is damn good.

Pretty bold just jumping on this site and stating "any asshole can make beer". And you're wrong about the spirits startup.
unless you think everyone starts out like top shelf distilleries....

[IMG] SONS OF LIBERTY ...... Good stuff too![IMG]
    The Beginning
At the Sons of Liberty we believe being American means taking a stand without compromise and fearlessly pursuing your dreams no matter what stands in your way. We founded Sons of Liberty Spirits to revolutionize and redefine American Whiskey and we are well on our way.

We started with a couple questions: "Why is no one distilling single malt whiskies from the beers we love?" and "Why are there so many seasonal beers, but no seasonal whiskies?" With a spirit for innovation, we set out to create a line of whiskies the world had never seen.

Today we are proud to lead the rebirth of American Whiskey by challenging century old traditions with American Single Malt Whiskies born from distinctly flavorful beers and the first ever seasonal line of whiskies.

I tried most of the Rogue spirits at the Farm a couple of years ago and didn't think a single one was worth buying. OK, but not worth seeking out or spending the pretty penny they want you to spend on it.
