Cut them some slack. They would have lost their whole livelihood from Irene, if it wasn't for having started the cannery. They made a ton of different beers before that. Plus they've been making solid moves to expand, in the works for a new retail location with a variety of beers available for growler fills. Already started with Ouroboros coming back a couple weeks ago.

With Red Seal ale on draft and cask conditioned, I'm happy with North Coast beer. I admit the ACME line while drinkable, could be a bit more agressive. Old Rasputin and Old 38 are ssolid stouts. Where I have a problem with North Coast is their cutting back on their taproom. Closed Mon-Tues all year round, Taco Tuesday gone, and most if not all days they don't open until 4pm. That is what I call screwing their customers both local and visiting. I think Mendocino Brewing should do a complete revamp, very pedestrian in my opinion.

LOL, BA. I just read a thread where half the respondents stated how they were sick of watching DFH push the envelope. Exact phrasing. With a ton of praise for their core line. And now this thread, in which pushing the envelope is equated with stepping it up, and how core lines aren't good enough or more special releases need to come along.

Obviously this means there is plenty of room in the market for breweries to do one or the other.

Not everyone has a sophisticated palate or wants to always be drinking a new beer or wants to chase special releases. Some people just want to pick up a Sam Adams or a Saranac or a Shiner mixed pack, and that's fine. Shipyard gets a ton of hate on here and I think its crappy myself - I wouldn't drink it if it was free. But I'm not everyone.

So my answer to the question is none.
