If you want an attitude, A thru Z, 3Floyds would be the choice for __. You have to laugh when you leave, to be not normal.

Two Roads is friendly, happy and always crowded. It's like going to a good keg par every time I am there. Wouldn't mind if they lowered the prices in the bar but no complaints. Have never had a bad time, and I have been there a LOT. Beers are pretty good too, especially the special releases.

Agree on Grey Sail, one of the best visits I have ever had.

Trillium, Hill Farmstead, Tree House, 14th Star (hometown brewery!), and even though I don't love Magic Hat's beers, it's a really cool place to visit and the people there are very friendly.

I was there last summer and it was crowded but I never waited more than a minute for a refill. I sampled everything, and found a couple I really liked, and had them repeatedly. Surprisingly one of the ones I liked was the Watermelon ale. Perhaps it was the summer heat, but it tasted really good that night. Everyone was friendly, including the bartenders who work their butts off keeping up with the demand. And at the end of the night they hand you a pint glass on the way out the door. For $10 I'll take that any day.

I once was talking to Evan from Barrier and he asked me, "From what we've made, tell me what you haven't liked." I think that speaks volumes.

The folks at Shorts are very friendly and approachable. I haven't been to New Belgium, but from what I've experienced, they are pretty cool also.

Boy do I agree with you 100% and Laguinitus is very reasonable. But back to recomendations: weihenstephaner original and Heffeweis Victory prima pils and Allagash wit.A beginner should start off with beer that is just a hell of a lot better than what they are used to drinking. Most of the california brewery's are fantastic but it takes time to get used to a douple Ipa even a regular ipa.If I was going to venture out I would try Stone IPA. Then come back and post what you think. These are just a couple of suggestions. From me to you the beer world keeps cranking out fantastic offerings every year 2013 no exception(witness dirtwolf, chillwave and pinnaple ipa from stone amounst many others.

I emailed my favorite brewery a few years ago before they had their merchandise on their website, and I simply asked if I could purchase a pint glass. They mailed me back asking for my address. A week later I received 4 pint glasses in the mail from them free of charge. That's Breckenridge Brewery.

I may be a bit biased here, but I have never had a bad experience at Country Boy Brewing in Lexington, KY. Every time I have gone in there, the guys and gals have always provided me with absolutely exceptional customer service in addition to great beer. I have only been in once, but I really enjoyed my experience at Apocalypse Brew Works during my last trip to Louisville. I spent quite some time chatting with one of the owners/brewers. She and the rest of the staff were very knowledgeable, polite, and interested in their customers. I also have to say that I have been seriously impressed with the devotion of Pisgah Brewing and Lookout Brewing in Black Mountain, NC to providing excellent experiences for their customers.

being only 45 minutes away, I cant believe I waited so long to make a first trip to Tree House in Monson this morning. All the staff seemed genuinely grateful for the business...thank you for coming, thank you for your patience, etc. the greeter guy had a great sense of humor. The woman behind me in line was a cranky beyotch who seemed genuinely out of place....yet the greeter guy still "handled" her with humor, despite her being completely confused by where she was or what she was there for..

kudos to Tree House. I'll be back again for sure

The people at Voodoo and Lavery are awesome. Tired Hands as well. I haven't really had a negative experience at any brewery but those 3 certainly stand out by going out of thier way to make every experience positive.
