Thoughts on value? Goose Island sold for $38.8m, Boulevard sold for estimated $100m +.

BrewDog will be on the block sometime in the future. I'm convinced of that.

Already partially owned by The Griffin Group, the US "beverage alcohol group"/importer that now also owns Anchor Brewing Co. Two of the oddest brewing bedfellows under a single ownership.

For some reason , the Brewers Association still considers Anchor "craft" despite now being owned "by an alcoholic beverage industry member who is not themselves a craft brewer." Similar, I guess, to those in this thread who claim "Anchor would never sell out" even though Maytag did indeed sell his company.

Yeah my Anchor not selling comment was sprinkled in sarcasm. Sorry if it tricked anyone who liked that post.

NB was "sold" to employees in a transaction called an ESOP buyout - the cash flow of the business pays off the original owners. It's a great way to sell without having to sell to an
InBev, etc. I believe that Dechuttes did the same thing.

It was the sarcasm that some people "Liked" (well, at least one guy ).

But, yeah, not everybody got it since yours was hardly the only post that discussed Anchor selling out - there were about a half dozen or more.

And, of course, it wasn't the first time...

I can actually see Anchor being sold in the future and maybe even the whole Griffin Group. A pretty common business practice is to buy company/brand and add "value" to it and then flip the company/brand. If you look at Skyy Vodka the brand was founded in 1992 and was sold to Campari Group in 2009. It looks like the Griffin Group is adding value to Anchor by expanding its production with an eye on either making greater profits or making it more attractive to sell. I don't think any sale is near term at all and would bet that quite a few acquisitions will be made before Anchors new brewery come fully online.

P.S. I also think that once the new brewery comes online it will start contract brewing some Brew Dog brews. I have a hard time seeing Anchor brands with their already very good market penetration being able to push that much production into the market.

    P.P.S. everyone has their price:wink:

I could see some consolidation, but not much take over by BMC unless they were to do a hostile take over of Boston Beer Co. even though Jim Koch still owns the majority of the stock.

Hate to burst your bubble. LT is basically owned by bankers.

I don't classify this group of "bankers" in the same arena as Abinbev. It's not my cup of tea surely, but I don't of any incidences of Fulham Co holding down the growth of craft (perhaps they have though, I could be very much just unaware), which is one of my reasons for avoiding Abinbev.
