I have participated in a few brewery passport programs in my area, and from my experience they’re a great way to explore smaller local breweries that might not get much attention otherwise.

Technically, the system works like a loyalty or tracking program, each brewery visit gets logged or stamped, and completing certain routes can earn rewards or special merchandise. It encourages people to try a variety of beers and helps breweries track engagement and promote events.

It’s also a fun way to meet other enthusiasts and compare tasting notes in person rather than just online. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a structured way to explore local craft beer.

I have what is called a Hop Passport. It is buy one, get one. Once you use it, the place stamps their page. I like it because I like to explore breweries in my state, and it is a little extra incentive to go to new places. Very well worth the $40 I spent on it.

Your post reads like you should be a member of the local chamber of commerce.

Welcome to the BA site. Nice job of jumping right in to the forums.

We have one in Vermont and I completed promptly it when I moved here 16 years ago. Igor some good swag. Sorry I can’t do it again because of all the new breweries
    But it was great.
The Vermont Brewers Association, which supports it and the beer fest in July has a great website

This thread prompted me to do a little research of ale trails in places I might be passing through. I found the Jacksonville Ale Trail... 8 breweries gets you a T-shirt and a koozie. Great deal.

I use the Twin Cities one (repeatedly) and the mostly used the Denver one during a fun 5 day spree. They're a total bargain and gave me feeder data for my short pint study

NYS has the hop passport, my wife got me one in 2025. I never had it with me, and I wasn’t too interested in traveling around to breweries I never heard of. She got so mad . :grimacing:

I love traveling to new breweries, but I am having to go farther to find them. I also keep my book in my car, so I know it is always there.
