I'm planning my Brewery tour for Dec.2014 I will head to New Glarus first from there I'm heading to Three Floyds I will get some Pipeworks- Citra Ninja..Revolution- Anti Hero and Half Acre- Daisy Cutter when going thru Chicago Then will head to Bell's and Founders breweries...from there it's off to Fat Heads brewery Then onto Ithaca brewery...then will end the tour at Hill Farmstead...I wanted to stop at Lawson's and The Alchemist but see they don't offer tours or have a taproom So my questions are...where's the best places to buy their brews? where will I be able to buy Tree House-Julius while in Vermont? And are there any places along the way I should stop? I will be driving from wisconsin to Illiinois,Indiana Michigan,Ohio,NY,and Vermont
You can only get Tree House offerings from the brewery and a few select other tap houses in Mass. I would stop by Southern Tier Brewery near Jamestown, NY on your way to Ithaca...
Sounds like fun. You should probably add Great Lakes just for its cool history and location, but that is up to you.
consider stop at Dark Horse , in between Bell's and Founders...and although it is not a brewery yet, a stop at Prohibition Pig in Waterbury, VT is worth the pilgrimage.
Thanks for The info...If I going this far...maybe I should go a little further and head to Tree House brewery...I have to try a Julius
I'm gonna go to Waterbury...regardless of the lack of tour and taproom..In hopes that I will land a case of Heady...I will add Prohibition Pig to my trip..and will check out Dark Horse...Thank You
I'll be going through Cleveland...so stopping at Great Lakes makes alot of sense...I really like Edmond Fitzgerald porter...Thanks for the reply
Crossroads, Beer Cellars, and the Village Market get their deliveries on Wednesday...They all limit quantity to 1 or 2... Hunger Mountain, Winooski Bev, Beverage Baron are the only case at a time sellers
Skip Ithaca and go to Peekskill. One of the best pieces of advice I could've taken on my trip ( just returned from a nine day tour this past weekend). Do your homework, heady is easy to find in VT, just have to know what day each store gets their deliveries. Headyspotter is a great tool. We went to HF on a Wednesday at noon and were out in about an hour. Their allotments tend to run short by the weekend on rare bottles. We went on to Waterbury from there and were able to procure 25 four packs of Heady in Waterbury. Warren store on Thursday early is a must for Lawson's. Also, don't moss Decicco's in Brewster, NY. Most impressive bottleshop I've been to in awhile. Good luck man, and don't pass on Peekskill. You'll thank me later...
Thanks..I hope you had a great tour..I really wanna try Flower Power...I have $3200 saved so far for my trip...and laid off for the winter...so guessing time and money won't be a problem...I could plan on stopping at Peekskill on my way back...This is gonna be a great trip
Julius was one of if not THE best beer i've EVER had. Worth it. In terms of the NY stuff, do peekskill for sure, and stop at other half. You'll be amazed by what you can have in NY.
If your stopping by Ithaca for just Flower Power, you can find 6-ers in NY of it almost anywhere. I can even send you 6-er if need be. It is a very good IPA fresh on tap. Tree House if worth the stop. Julius is dynamite, and if they Double Shot (stout) thats a must grab as well
