Looking for a gem of a brewery with outstanding IPA's. Visited Monkish Brewery a few weekends ago and was floored by their Hazy's. Simply outstanding.

Looking for another small brewery that offers outstanding beers. Too many "blah" breweries to choose from and want to visit an up and coming gem.

    Been to
    Bottle Logic (Great as always)
    Golden Road (Good)
    Noble Ale ()
    Monkish (Outstanding)

Looking for something on par with Bottle Logic and Monkish...

    Any recommendations?

    Beachwood and Green Cheek.

Beachwood's definitely not "up and coming", but it gets lost in the hype nowadays. Smog City also consistently makes delicious beers and there's a tap room both near Monkish and near(ish) to Beachwood..

Beachwood LB > Beachwood HB > Green Cheek > RiiP

BWLB will have all their beers there. BWHB has half or less than half of what’s offered at their LB location. You get food at the LB location (bonus). Not much haze in the Long Beach area. But some fine clear west coast offerings. If your looking for half haze and half clear head to RiiP. And you get some nice scenery at RiiP being across the street from the beach. Hungry at RiiP? Super Mex is next door. If you end up at BWHB, RiiP is 3+ miles away. Green Cheek is good for experimental ipa’s (clear and haze) and other styles.

I'm all about IPA's. Clear and Hazy's alike. Prefer non-hazy, but cannot pass up an outstanding hazy either. Like I mentioned earlier... to many "tucked in the middle" kind of IPA's out there.
I got lucky with Monkish based on a recommendation. Looking for the same again based on recommendations from the community.

Beachwood LB > Beachwood HB > Green Cheek > RiiP

If Simcoast to Coast is still up at Beachwood (and it should be) just kinda...pour it down your gullet. For me, it's literally the best thing that's come out of Beachwood in a year. Any of BW's IPA offerings that aren't hazy are pretty damn delicious, and Street 3, Block 2 should be put up on the house list soon too!

Seal Beach (and I think maybe Long Beach now too, if not soon) serves breakfast.

SB & Riip prob have best atmosphere being right near the beach, with SB having the small town vibe and Riip just having a great view/breeze.

I don’t think you’ll find anything local here better than Monks haze. They do a pretty fine job for west coast. The others mentioned are good. I don’t do Monks because all the drama and hype and traffic. Plus to me it’s all the same tasting haze. Plus west is the “best”
FYI, if you hear the word Offshoot, run the opposite way. Don’t stop. But for west coast you’ll like what BW has to offer. Simcoast to Coast is still freaking amazing.

I normally agree w/DCGunman, but I would have to say that I enjoy Green Cheek IPA's more lately. Beachwood is still good, but it's been a while since I've had something there that really killed it for me. Also, the drive there is the only place you'll really be able to hit if your visiting. Assuming you're from out of town of course. At least Green Cheek gives you the option to hit more places and possibly revisit anywhere that might have new stuff on tap.

The Cocohut Super Plus sounds pretty awesome and some of their other IPA's look pretty strong right now. Their website has a list of what is on tap.

GC is spot on in my books too. It’s the location for me. Us local drinkers like to find something good close by and stick to it. Unfortunately I’m stuck in the middle of BWHB and RiiP. A mile n half both ways from my place. If 4 Boys was the only local brewery near my house I would run to GC every time.

Yeah, being a mile from BWLB is the bee's knees. Also, their IPAs are not incredible, but Ten Mile is worth the stop for me for the Helles alone.

Crispy and dryer IPA's are what I'm really after with a nice bitter-ish cheek sticking finish, or anything close to that (Not too much caramel). There's balance struck that I prefer that West Coast IPA's offer.

Radiant Beauty from Green Cheek is the best IPA I've had all year. Clear with that signature pop Evan gives his WCIPA beers. The same pop that put Noble on the map.

Would recommend Green Cheek as others have said. Love their West Coast IPAs and lagers.

If you’re around LB, def hit up Beachwood for their West Coast IPAs and BBQ chicken nachos and fried pickles and Blendery for their sours, about a five-minute walk from each other.

You could try most breweries mentioned in this thread if you swing by the orange county brewers guild invitational on Saturday in Anaheim from 12pm to 4pm. Just purchased tickets and you can find 15% discounts all over the place. Hint: Visit green cheeks instagram.

If not I second green cheek out of all the breweries in the area if you're just looking for IPA's. If you're open to other styles swing by Bruery Teurrex which is an easy 5-10 min drive. IMO offshoot isn't as terrible as most make them out to be. They aren't monkish but they're enjoyable and usually you can find 4-6 IPA's on tap.

    Enjoy!
