Pub release only, $25 per 4 pack Oak barrel aged sour ale. I live a few miles away, I was thinking about picking up a couple 4 packs just for $4$ trades. Anyone had this, is it worth picking up?
Well how'd it go for the people who made it? And how surprised/bummed were the people planning on going there to grab some after work, only to see that it was all gone? I did see people go back in line for more cases. If you're a BA who did that, shame on you.
I drove by, there was a LONG line and only 95 cases to go around. I would have stopped but I had the kids with me.
No idea this was going to be as limited as it was. One of the cashiers seemed to be having a nervous breakdown due to the overwhelming (in her mind) amount of people that were there for the release. Had one with lasagna tonight and it was fantastic. Nice and tart, lots of great barrel character from the pinot noir barrels. Vanilla/oak/grape, and at 9% is insanely smooth.
Yup 1 case limit. I've never seen a line at vivant before. There was a line the entire time. The beer game in gr is getting crazy.
I think this sold out in basically an hour. They posted on facebook that at 4:10, they were down to the last 11 cans, and I believe it went on sale at 3. This limited release stuff is getting pretty ridiculous.
Anyone know if they'll have this on tap? Going to be in GR next week and would love to at least try it. I don't believe I saw it on their current tap last on their website.
When I was in line yesterday, the people in front of me asked how long Paris would be available. The paraphrased response was, "in cans, we'll be sold out by tonight. On tap, we have tons." Might want to call before you go if it's the only thing your interested in there, but my guess is they'll still have it.
I was surprised when I pulled up at 2:45p and there was a pretty good line going. I only grabbed a 4-pack but that was more because it has been an expensive beer month and figured I would be sleeping in the garage if I spent $150 on a case. For only having 100 cases, sure seems like a lower limit would have made sense. What do I know though... Cheers!
I guess I'll start the post release reactions. Dry, fruity, tart, funky, super easy to drink.... I'm not a huge Vivant fan but this one was easily the best beer I've had from them and it will have me reassessing my thoughts on the brewery as a whole. Obviously, the fact that they sold out in 45 minutes proves that many already knew this. Guess I'm late to the party. My initial thought was that $150 for a case was ridiculous. However, when I started converting the prices of other breweries 750 ml sours to what they would be if sold in pints like Vivant (Upland, New Glarus, etc.), I came to the conclusion that this might be the most appropriately priced Vivant beer. Will I pay $14 for a 4 pack of Big Red Coq? Nope. Will I stand in line in the middle of the afternoon on a work day to buy another case of Paris for $150 a year from now? Yep.
