Tickets go on sale on 6/7/14. The event is being held on Sat Sept 6th 2014. Here is the link: http://ocbrewhaha.com/ It looks interesting. Has anyone attended this event in previous years? What did you think of it? Will you be attending again this year?
We go every year, great event. Will definitely be going again this year. The Brew HaHa is their main event but they also have at least 4 other spin-off festivals: Sabroso Beer/Taco fest (just took place in 2 weeks ago): http://sabrosotacofest.com/ Gray Cloud Cigar and Beer pairing (next one is in June): http://www.graycloudpairings.com/ Brew HeeHaw (at the OC Fair in July): http://www.ocbrewheehaw.com/ Brew Ho Ho (holiday ales around Christmas time) http://ocbrewhoho.com/
Here is some info from the site regarding DD. DESIGNATED DRIVER – $20 – Must accompany a paying guest How and when can I buy Designated Driver Tickets? Designated Driver tickets can only be bought at the door the day of the event while entering with the people/person they will be driving. We will be bringing a Designated Driver for our group of VIP attendees. Which Designated Driver pass do we buy for them? We only have one type of Designated Driver pass which must be purchased at the door while entering with the people/person they will be driving. Designated Drivers may enter the festival at the same time the people they are accompanying go in.
Went to last years BrewHaHa. It was okay. Nuthin special like the Firestone Walker event. It's a great event for newbies who want to try out new beers and styles. Mostly stuff I've tried or like already. And others I can care less about. So I'm sure the OC Fair one will be the same. Bring some ABC, KRBC, RRBC, Societe, Zombie Dust, Bells, etc, etc, etc in then I might consider.
jeebus i am going bonkers this year; so many beerfests (intl beer fest, stone, this one, snevada, citybeat beer fest that took place in april)
I had about the same impression. It seemed like there was a lot of people who were new to craft beer/beer fests and just wanted to sample a wide variety of brews. There's nothing wrong with that, but don't go expecting some of the rare stuff you'll see at a Stone event or Bruery event. I also don't think it's a particular great value for the price. I will say I had some friends who signed up for the "Beer Geek Island" Bottle Share and they seemed to really enjoy it. So if I did go again I would definitely try to get in on that.
The BrewHaHa is a great event. Last years event did have it's fair share of craft beer noobies but it seems that all the festivals are like that anymore. I totally agree with homer281 in that there were not a lot of "whalez" being served at the booths but that is not to say there were not some there.... The event is a well run affair that allows you to chill, hang out in a large shaded area walk around listen to some good live music, smoke a few cigars with friends and try some craft brew from local breweries that you might have never heard of. The food was not bad either. For you Moby Dick hunters out there, bring a whale with you, check it in at the front and see what happens, you might get to try that beast you have been searching for.... I will be going this year for sure. See you there.
