lol my porter got a 26.5 in the club comp. Judges complained of a strong vegetal aroma and flavor (hops, "almost spearmint"???) that no one else who tasted the beer has ever noted. It's fairly hoppy, but it's an American porter, so...

Maybe it got messed up in the bottling, but otherwise I dunno. I guess I know whose palate not to trust.

I grind coco nibs to dust, around 2 oz, toss it into the bottleing bucket stir then bottle.

Coconut I usually toast to a light brown, toss 3-4 oz into the secondary and rack after A week.

Sweet rye stout. Roasted barley, chocolate barley, chocolate rye, C20, coffee, cacao nibs, maltodextrin, lactose; Windsor yeast.

Been 326 days since the last time I put heat to the kettle. Found out there are a few cobwebs in my brew brain. (tip: the Bouncer filter does not work well with commando pellet hops :flushed: ).

Crazy Stout coming up. Also modified my hop filter with different size mesh screens to keep the trub out. Hoping it works.

Do the screens slide up and sit on top of the hops?

You can put the screens anywhere but i made it for racking into the fermenter. All my hops are free thrown in the kettle.

Ok cool. I like that fermentor setup did you add the quick connect for fermenting under pressure? Also I wonder if one could do this then add Fermzilla floating ball for closed transfers into a keg?

Forgot to mention that I picked this up and it works really well, thanks for the link.

Used it with a fermwrap and a Johnson Controls to ramp up and hold a saison at ~75F in my Speidel last week and am currently using the same setup to hold a sour at ~95F in a carboy. Not the most aesthetically pleasing but effective.

What's the difference between doing this and using un-sweetened cocoa powder. Nibs are expensive.
