How much of that perfect purée you typically use in a 5 gallon batch?

It seems they are sold for $25 each, for 30 oz bottles of purée?

IRS stout sounds like it gets you drunk and takes all your money once a year

Picked up an expired wlp036 for free and decided to make a "Altbier". I say "Altbier" because I also decided to clean up some old grains and brew a very non traditional Alt. Should still make a tasty beer malty beer for summer.

    5 Gallons
    4.5% ABV
    34 IBUs
    15 SRM
    Mash @ 149

    90% Munich
    5% Aromatic
    2% CaraMunich
    2% Melanodin
2% Pale Chocolate added for color at end of mash.
    Saaz @ 60 for 34 IBUs
    WLP036 @ 64 Ambient

Sorry that was a bad joke attempt about taxes.

Racked what tastes like my best iteration of Tropics onto freshly diced pineapple. 11lbs should do.

2# of coconut will take that pineapple Citra Tropics beer to the next level.

Kegging my Czech Pils this afternoon. Same yeast and almost same grain bill as my recent Helles. The Helles isn't drinking great yet; hopefully simply a matter of needing to lager longer. Cheers!

Today I brewed 6 gallons of a Tank 7 inspired Brett Saison with Equinox and Galaxy hops. About to pitch 3031 and Saison Brett dregs.

I'll be bottling my 14 month old Bugfarm Blonde this week!

Hey, I trying to figure out my best route to going electric. That's a nice looking panel: did you build or buy? Any details would be appreciated. Cheers!

I'm not a huge coconut fan.... But that would be pretty cool.

Is it always wise to toast the coconut and get some of the oil off with a paper towel??

Next brew on deck the helga hops I've been wondering what to do with are going into a hefeweizen. I'm calling helgaweizen. 2 row wheat and a little Vienna with small additions throughout to 15 ibus~ bunch of lime zest at flameout. Using imperial house yeast for 5 and my usual Munich dry yeast for the other

Brewed my best beer to date for the Martin house home brew competition. Had a couple issues with the mash but overall, had a great brew. Original gravity came in right at 1.09. This bad boy is going to get 2 pounds of honey at high krausen and then the secret weapon.

Racked NMB to secondary tonight. In a few months half will get french oak soaking in high west double rye whiskey, and the other half will get raspberries + cacao nibs.

Yesterday I brewed fifteen gallons of Red IPA with 97% Best Malz Red X and 3% Carapils. Two pounds of Simcoe. Been meaning to see what color this malt is capable of producing and I'm not convinced it's anything special. This is the wort a few minutes before boil.

Anyway, brewday went well. Sparge was a little slow from running the pump too hard during recirculation, but I hit all my numbers and volumes.

The beer/wort is fermenting now. Five gallons of US-05 will eventually be dry hopped with Columbus. Five of 1318 we'll get Rakau. And five of 3522 (Ardennes) will get Azacca. Really looking forward to a hazy, juicy, fruit-forward red IPA with 1318 as well as seeing how Ardennes plays with the Azacca. Delicate Belgian fruit and spice with mango, papaya and citrus hop character. Could be a bit of a stretch, but could be good as well.

First try with my new closed system transfer and it went great. Never had to see that awful O2 we breath.

It's funny that just the other night at my brew meeting a respected brewer and BJCP teacher told a few of us that when he went to a closed transfer system that his beers became dull and he went back to the autosyphon and fixed his problem. I have no experience with this so I am passing this along. Take care.
