Has anyone heard any concrete news about new brew pubs/breweries opening in Montgomery? Through word of mouth I have heard that "Railyard Brewing" will be opening up in the near future in the old Brew pub location, and also heard rumors of another brewery in the works, being put together by a group of homebrewing doctors. I can't find anything concrete online, so I was wondering what other BA's might have heard through the rumor mill.
My parents still live there and I always ask for updates. Last I was told, the people moving into the old Montgomery Brew Pub were having some kind of issues with the license and that it was taking longer than expected to get that off the ground. Apparently the city was making it difficult due to some kind of regulations related to food and operating hours. This is 2nd hand from a newspaper article, but I think they were looking into having separate food and brewing establishments/ownership.
The folks that bought it when they closed were waiting for some outdated Alabama laws to be changed, and I thought with the legislation that passed last year they would be ready to go. As recently as the end of 2011, I still saw the building and equipment up for lease, so I'm not sure that the owners were waiting only on legislation. Whatever happens, I hope it comes to fruition soon. I would be ready to do some free part time work on the weekends to get some experience playing with big kid toys!
