I will share a personal example: one of my first all-grain batches had a target gravity of 1.097, actual OG was 1.082. Was it still a tasty beer in the end? Yes, it was. Strong, flavorful, and quite enjoyable.

I think there are times when it makes sense to try to fix mistakes. But during panic mode on a first batch isn't usually one of them.

Hell, I've been brewing all grain six years, and I still miss my OG by ~.01 every once in awhile when I'm going big.

Keep good records of exactly what you do and how you do it. I use a blog (so it's easy to link when I have questions). Here's a link to my latest brew day's information, check it out.

And yeah, so you made mistakes, big hairy deal. :astonished: I'm still making them, and expect this trend to probably continue into the foreseeable future.

Very cool blog. I absolutely need a detailed checklist like that for my next batch. Let us know how the BIPA comes out..

    I started a checklist a while ago.

#1 on my list is to stop burning myself with hot wort. I often fail step 1.

:sunglasses: I remember asking noob questions like this. You'll look back and laugh at yourself, and likely apologize to all whom you asked.

Happy brewing man, it'll soon become a lifestyle.

    Cheers

No doubt about it. I'm trying to the find time to brew the next batch already. I have an extremely addictive personality too. This will surely drive my wife nuts, hopefully I can tranquilize her w/ some homebrew.

Lifestyle can be an understatement. Shit will take over you life if you're not careful! LOL
