Hey Guys , I searched over the board for some threads that were here a while back but I seem not to be able to find them . Bottom line , I was looking into brewing schools and was just trying to find out how people fared while attending and weather they found work after graduating . I know threads used to be on here....so if any one can suggest where to look ...or better yet have any first hand incite I would really appreciate it . Thanks - Garve
Just went to look for some discussions on brewing schools and noticed that there isn't one. Is it mixed in with something else or has there not been to need to create one? I have many questions that would be helpful to have answered as well as some insight from people who have attended some of this.
(Merged your thread.) There has been much talk about them recently, and there's not a dedicated forum for them, but I graduated from the American Brewers Guild in 2005 and highly recommend it. As for specific questions, you might have better luck emailing the schools that you're interested in.
I'm a World Brewing Academy grad (Siebel and Doemens program). I don't know of any classmates that didn't find work in the brewing industry upon graduation. Some guys are shift brewers at breweries like Stone, Surly, Terrapin, etc. One of my classmates is distilling in New York, another one brewing in Sweden. I think a few guys are at Bell's... We are all over.
Did you do a search of the Homebrewing forum? The topic of brewing school comes up occasionally there.
I graduated from the American Brewers Guild last year in the Craft Brewers Apprenticeship program. I highly recommend it, especially if you can do the on-site class at the school in Vermont. I recently moved to Arizona and was able to get a job as a brewer pretty quickly at an awesome place with the experience and education I got at ABG. Our head brewer and another brewer also went to the ABG, it's pretty well respected in the industry since they focus on practical application of brewing theory, and they can help you find job placements. Good luck!
